We traveled to the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center to see the beautiful peonies in bloom. It was a gorgeous spring day, sunny and breezy, and the peonies were spectacular. Because of COVID-19, the rows between peony bushes were marked as to which direction (one way) to go, which was helpful. What a special place. Would love to come back again to see more next time.

For the first time in ten years neither of my kids were in the show so I got to sit in the audience from beginning to end of this magical ballet. I have always loved the performance but figured I was just partial because my kids were in it -- but I have to say I was so impressed and my friend who sees the ballet each year in NYC couldn't believe how professional and well done it was. The dancers are graceful, skilled and enthusiastic... everyone looks like they are having so much fun! And it is lovely how they have made such an effort to include performers of diverse ages and skill levels -- just saying, an amazing perk when you're a student at the school. The costumes, back drops and stage sets are beautiful and ingenious... the 7 year old with us was totally spellbound and swept up in the magic! The live orchestra and chorus gave me goosebumps... the music is so beautiful and the orchestra brought it alive. In the past I always sat on the orchestra level because I had to run back stage to collect my little ballerinas... honestly I never had a bad seat and the perspective is wonderful for many of the effects. This time I sat up in the balcony and loved that too because we could really see the orchestra. This is one of my favorite holiday traditions and we are so lucky to have such an amazing performance of the Nutcracker to look forward to every year.
