After hearing rave reviews from our neighbors, we decided to venture out to try this spot. We chose to go at opening on a Thursday as we are trying to avoid crowded times due to COVID. The staff person was very friendly. We were welcomed into this barn on an actual 150 year old farm that has been delightfully redone to house the taproom. There is ample, airy seating indoors. There is also a large outdoor patio with tables (and umbrellas) for those who prefer the open-air. A built-in stage outside also welcomes live music on the weekends. The beer was solidly good. Our favorite was the Oatmeal "Snout", but we really enjoyed all the beer names that are connected to the farm such as Crop Duester and Pig Farmer Pale Ale. Great selection of beers with some summer and IPA variations. There are also guest taps and sodas available. Some snack food is available such like pizza and a really, really huge pretzel! This was a fun, country stop that is definitely worth the drive!

The Apple Barn Orchard & Winery is an attraction fit for all ages. Bring the kids for strawberry picking in June, apple and pumpkin picking in autumn, or leave the kids at home and come sample some of our award-winning fruit wines! If that's not enough, our bakery is consistently utilizing our seasonal fruits in scrumptious goodies like apple cider donuts, strawberry/rhubarb pies, and much more. Wine not come and see us? We're just off the beaten path, right where you wanna be!
This is a little fun orchard & pumpkin patch. You can taste wines and they have a good bakery and store. They have the best donuts straight from the fryer like when you make your own. Not just the cake like donuts that most other orchards have. So eat them hot!

I took my two teenage kids for an overnight stay on a busy weekend in February 2020. We fell in love again with the well groomed runs and charming international guests. We found night skiing to be thrilling with the eastern snowboard runs full of large jumps and exotic landscapes and cliff dropoffs. The charming chalet hotel has a warm pool with a connecting hot tub as well a cat walk that connects to the restaurant/bar. The dining room was lightening fast even with a big crowd and the bar had a very pleasant staff and a guitar player on the back stage. If I ever become rich my dream is to purchase this place and continue to bring smiles the faces of adventures for years to come.

Sorry to read all of the negative responses posted in 2019 concerning the Jimmy Buffett show at Alpine Valley. I have been attending shows at Alpine since 1978 and I have never had an experience to compare with those voiced by many of the concertgoers. My wife and I attended the same concert, had a great time and went to the show expecting that there would be lines and it would be necessary to deal with some delays parking, entering the venue when the gates opened and exiting the parking lot after the show. If you go to Alpine and expect that there is only going to be a small crowd attending a show then you need to research the venue. The theater holds 37,000 people and any informed Buffett fan knew that it was a sell-out prior to concert day. 37,000 people don't squeeze through a few gates in a few minutes. As for the lawn seating, many years ago we sat on the lawn when we were not able to purchase pavilion tickets (for Buffett, by the way). I swore that that would never happen again as it was impossible to maintain a minimal seating area due to fans lack of respect for personal space. And I got tired of the "beer showers" also, provided by drunk and over-served attendees who didn't seem to give a damn about the show. Sometimes I think the expensive beer prices are to purposely reduce the amount of beer consumed by some of the less than responsible concert attendees. Sitting on the lawn for a sold-out show is definitely not recommended. As for the physical layout of the theatre, it was purposely built on the side of a natural valley to provide a view of the stage from the whole venue. Is it steep? Yes it is. Is the lawn slippery when it is wet. Yep. Can the climb from the pavilion and lower lawn be a chore for an older or disabled person. Definitely. When I first went there in 1978 I was 27 years old and the physical layout of the theatre was not a problem. Now at nearly 70 years old, that climb up the hill can be challenging but I would rather see a show at Alpine than almost any other venue in the country. Some of the problems unfortunately experienced by the disappointed fans were created by the people who attended the show. The walkways and sidewalks should be kept clear but there obviously are not enough security personnel to keep up with constantly herding the people. Disrespect for others personal space cannot be solved by security. Sadly some people go to see Jimmy with the idea that they are going to be "blasted" or "blitzed" out of their minds and don't really give a damn about the show or the fans who came to see a concert, not a bunch of loud mouthed jerks. While the quality of concerts over the years have improved, unfortunately, the quality of concertgoers has not. In 2019, my wife and I (sometimes with friends) attended 13 shows in four states. Most of the shows had at least one or two loudmouths within earshot who just could seem to fathom that they were at a show that was attended by thousands of people and who wanted to hear the music instead of some idiot babbling about some totally irrelevant bullpucky. The only shows where the fans respected each other AND the band were at the Sting Cheese Incident and Greensky Bluegrass shows. None of these issues will stop me from going to see live music, particularly at Alpine Valley. But I go anticipating what to expect and try to stay as flexible as possible if some aspect of the experience requires more patience or takes a little more time than usual.
