One note before I get into the substantive review. Check your cellular service coverage in the area. We had T-Mobile and service was abysmal to non-existent - anywhere at the track or in Sheboygan where we stayed. This track is a great place for motorsports fans. The level of access you have to the track, the teams, and the cars is really unparalleled. Even during COVID with the paddock closed off, you could still get really close to the cars. There are great viewing spots all along the track and we took some great shots at the Carousel and Canada Corner. I recommend bringing bikes or renting a golf cart if you are there for the full weekend and you plan on moving around. The track is a large area to cover on foot. You have to reserve carts early because the sell out. There are also some decent elevation changes that you might not expect looking at track maps etc. Also bring ear plugs (especially for kids) because cars are loud when you get up close. We had a great experience even with rain on Sunday. I’m sure attendance was light because of the pandemic, but we’ll be back again for sure. Finally a shout out to Badger Bimmers for hosting a BMW Car Corral so we had a place to call home during the weekend and a place to shelter from the rain.

A beautiful locally owned shop with a great selections of wine, microbrews, olive oils and snacks. Jacqueline is very knowledgeable about wine so you don’t need to be! She even does wine and cheese pairing classes and private parties. Check it out!

My husband and I stayed at The Osthoff and within walking distance was a great home town brewery - Switch Gear. Loved the atmosphere! The bar is spacious. They have an outdoor area and a side room for special events like wedding receptions, painting events, family reunions, etc. The beer is fantastic. My husband enjoyed an IPA called Snub Nosed Monkey... the story behind the name is great as well. Nate is the brewer and his wife Linda is the opening “beertender!” She’s awesome!! She made us feel like family. She told us about the people who own it together and how they all chip in to make the place go. The bar top is gorgeous; made with gear inlays.. super cool! They also have tables made with barn doors and poured acrylic. All of the tables and chairs were done by hand. My husband tried 4 different brews and enjoyed them all. They have large mason jars filled with pretzels and serve it with the most amazing cheese spread that is locally made with some of their beer. A couple of the workers also work at the cheese plant where it’s made. Lots of great clothing “gear” promoting their beer to purchase as well. They also host an Oktoberfest event that rocks the little town! Great people, great beer... what more do you need on a stop in the little town of Elkhart Lake. Love, love, love Linda!!

Took a ride down to Elkhart Lake looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. Ordered take out from Siebkins Tavern, got our food faster than anticipated, met the new owners who were absolutely wonderful, food was exceptional, high quality, prepared with a unique style. All in all a wonderful experience, definitely a go to place when in Elkhart Lake.
The world's largest barber pole is a silo outside The Barber Pole, where you can get a haircut for under $10.
