The site where King John signed the Magna Carta, England's great icon of liberty and first expression of human rights, on June 15, 1215.
Runnymede in short is a combination of history and nature put in a blender with monuments, memorials flavour added on top, presented in an elegant English countryside setting. This lovely meadow/woodland is as historic as it can get. There is a huge WWI & II Airforce memorial, JFK Memorial, centuries old Yew tree, ancient monastery, modern open air artworks and in the centre of it all is the sealing of Magna Carta that set the tone for later governments to make speeches about. The whole area is managed by the trustworthy National Trust that also look after the mighty Stonehenge and of course the river Thames runs through it.

My Great Neice from Italy is studying at The Royal Holloway and is very happy although she is far away from her family. We went to visit her and were impressed with her accommodation and the surroundings. The building is beautiful with lovely grounds.

Come and work out, wind down and drift away into a state of bliss at the spa at the runnymede-on-thames in Surrey. We put the treat into treatments… the bubbles into spa. Discover our whirlpool bath, pool, saunas and eucalyptus steam room, dance studio, gym… and a phenomenal treatment range for endless pampering in our gorgeous spa hotel in Egham.
This hotel is really onto a winner with the mother and daughter spa experience as very few hotels allow under 16s to come to the spa. The best thing about this was the staff, from the moment you arrive they make you feel special and looked after. We really had the loveliest most relaxing time and with the two treatments included the price is fairly reasonable. The spa is very clean and has enough to keep you busy for 4 hours with the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as a fantastic massage chair. The tray bake was very prettily presented and the garden room was very spacious and a great place to sit and relax. The pool itself was not particularly warm which was actually a good thing as you are able to swim after a relaxing dip in the jacuzzi. Highly recommended!

I have always loved Egham. I was raised there. My Mother was a mad keen historian and got me interested. Mr Sidney Oliver, the official local historian used to come to the school to tell us about its history. This lovely little museum has been a long time favourite of mine.
