The National Bighorn Sheep Center is located close to one of the largest herd of wild sheep in the US. The exhibit explores these rare and fascinating animals, and the habitat. Discover their world of high mountains and behaviors; why they butt heads, how they climb sheer cliffs, and more. Film, self guided and guided tours, special events and a great gift shop.
This small museum has an excellent display which is very informative about mountain sheep both in the Wind River area and others around the world.

The Dubois Museum: Wind River Historic Center is located in the Upper Wind River Region of Western Wyoming within two hours of Yellowstone National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Dubois Museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts related to the Mountain Shoshone Indians, Historic Dude Ranches, the Tie Hack Industry and local history. The Dubois Museum hosts Discovery Speakers programs, Children's Exploration programs and Adventure Trek programs that take visitors on excursions to culturally important areas in the area.
A lot of really interesting artifacts and stories inside the museum, I was more engaged than I thought I would be reading local stories. Replica cabins are neat. My kids enjoyed this. Worth spending an hour and paying the small fee.

Of all our ranch vacations, this one offered the most variety of terrains and rides. Every day a different surprise - Wind River and Absaroka ranges, Elk range, river canyons, volcanic ash hills, cattle driving, riding lessons, yoga, fly fishing, easy hikes to great scenery between rides, very well cared for horses, healthy but hearty meals with fresh veggies and wine, immaculate rustic cabins and excellent entertaining and knowledgeable hosts, the Fox family, attending to every detail. A total escape from the business stresses! This was the best ranch vacation we have had. So we're going back again in 2020!

The charming and well-kept Town Park in Dubois is adjacent to two major attractions, the Bighorn Sheep Center and the Dubois Museum. It contains tree-shaded picnic areas, a very tiny riverside beach suitable for toddlers to paddle in, and a paved river walk that extends on both sides of the lovely Wind River. Follow the riverwalk to the west end of the park to find the footbridge that will take you to the other side of the river, where it passes alongside a large field of native sagebrush and grass. The Superfoods supermarket is almost directly across the highway, so it's a terrific place to stop for a picnic en route. Don't miss the Scenic Overlook just slightly to the west and across the highway. You can drive a steep dirt road to the top for an extraordinary birds' eye view of the entire landscape, from the badlands to the west to the tree-covered mountains on the way to Jackson and Yellowstone.
