The university of Ulyanovsk arranged a tour to this museum for our South African contingent. We were taken on an hour long guided tour to see some of the most magnificent planes kept here. We were fortunate to go into one one the planes in which some of the great leaders travelled. Interesting for those interested in museums and aviation. Russians are really proud of the inventions and take great pride in maintains them.

Spent a wonderful evening at the theater. The drama being showcased was excellent. There was a reasonable and very knowledgeable audience as well. Very appreciative of the great act

After many attempts I finally got to the most treasured place of pilgrimage (for Leninists). While he's interred in Red Square, the Father of the 2nd Revolution has a pivotal role in the development of modern Ulyanovsk. If this were any other city it would have broken down and redeveloped itself more quickly, or not at all, instead, after many political wrangles, it is emerging from post-Soviet gloom and this Museum is emerging with it. Well worth a visit if only to understand the background of the man.

This museum has a section on modern fire organisations and another on firemen through time. You can try on helmets and get down under a fire truck from life1930. There arena English titles but they are mostly unnecessary. The display starts with some charred remains of household objects which caused a fire. If you understand Russian there are some interesting facts about how fires were started a hundred years ago. 50r entry, about how1 pound.

Музей супер. Много самолетов - которые остались в единичных экземплярах. Живая история советской авиации. Есть открытый самолет - куда можно попасть , включая кабину пилота . Однозначно надо посещать !

There is a school which Lenin studied. This museum was built to celebrate 100 years of Lenin's birth. Two houses which Lenin was born and grew up moved into this site from their original place in Ulyanovsk at that time. This beautiful area is located on the hill near Volga river.
Surname of Lenin is Ulyanov. This city changed name to Ulyanovsk to memory Lenin birthplace.
One house, 2 storied building, people can not enter inside, Lenin lived on 2nd floor. In another single story house, there are sincere grandmas and they show extreme respects to Lenin. Anyhow you can see Lenin's childhood and his life in this house.
It's really very good and pleasant place to walk around.

Probably one of the strangest and funniest monuments I have ever seen. Monument is dedicated to Russian letter YO. Simple, understandable, funny. Located in one of the main parks in Ulyanovsk. On busy days lots of people around taking picture. Place seems to be popular.

Part of the building has been developed as this museum and the rest of the building still serves as a school. The museum provides an interesting insight into the local history, as well as the development of education/schools. Friendly staff - but, naturally everything is in Russian.
