Where Calhoun Street ends at the May River, the historic Church of the Cross consecrated in 1857 is located on a picturesque grassy bluff. The sense of peace and tranquillity on the church property is wonderful. The gothic cruciform structure designed by the architect E.B. White has palmetto topped mullioned windows with lattice shutters. The rose colored glass in the windows was imported from England. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic of Historic Places in 1975.

Several thousand women and a few men arrived on Daufuskie Island for the Pledge The Pink race last weekend! The ferries were delightful! The homeowners volunteered to run the water stops, food before and after the event, and decorations along the way! What a gorgeous Oceanside island, with beautiful golf course, charming homes, and southern hospitality galore!

Don't let the name fool you: this Davis Love renovated championship 18-hole golf course at par-72 has a playable layout and unparalleled views. Bloody Point is home to the fabulous Eagle's Nest Restaurant and Bar serving lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
Played on a beautiful 75 degree day in mid January. For the time of year the course was in very good condition and very playable. We played a leisurely round with no one else in sight, even taking the time for a full lunch between nines. Course is interesting and fair for all levels and last few holes on the river are very scenic. Couldn't have had a better day.

Old town Bluffton is a one square mile area along Calhoun Street. The town of Bluffton was first settled in 1728, founded in 1852 and incurred major destruction during the Civil War. Eight antibellum houses and two churches survive from before the Civil War. The town has done a good job of blending the old with new construction to create a pleasant, unified atmosphere. With unique galleries, a mix of dining options and charming tree lining streets Bluffton is a place to spend a pleasant day.

Drove miles to find it and they were closed. Not worth the effort. I have to say more, says tripadvisor. What more can I say. They were closed with no prior notification on their website or flyers or information at the dock. Poor.

The Daufuskie Island Historical Foundation was founded in 2001 to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of Daufuskie Island, South Carolina. The museum complex has many items of interest which shows the heritage of Daufuskie Island.
A short visit will be a highlight to your trip to Daufuskie Island. The historical foundation has compiled a collection of items from an earlier era on Daufuskie. Two buildings house an organ, a 'stuffed' alligator, an exhibit (hands-on) for kids, a bible with one column in Gullah and one in English, an outdoor building housing the 'mid-wife's carriage' -- enough to keep you wide-eyed for an hour or so, but still leave enough time to visit the beach.

If you're out and about touring the island this is a great stop if you appreciate art. Part of the charm of this stop is that it doesn't have to be open for you to purchase anything - he has a "honor system" that you can take what you'd like and leave cash or check in the mail slot or leave your contact information and he will email you to get your cc number. It's a great spot of find a little piece of iron art to take home with you.

The island history is shown by the importance this lighthouse held in the working survival of many seagoing vessels. The two lights that worked together was new information for me. There is also a small gift shop to get some books with more information.

This 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed signature course hugs the Atlantic coastline, providing magnificent views and challenging plays for golfers at all skill levels.
Although I did not get a chance to play Melrose, I did walk a few of the holes and all I can say is it looked perfect. Clean and very well manicured.
