Kaptan June’s Hut was returned to the beach in 2010. Since then it has been used as a visitor center where people can learn about the turtles that come to the beach every year to lay their eggs. The center is very informative on the history of June's time living in the hut many years ago and her fight to protect turtles and the beautiful Iztuzu Beach. Discover how you can help now by visiting us !
This is an amazing place that takes care of sick and injured turtles which are then released back into the sea when they are well. It is free to visit but, please buy some merchandise or leave a big donation, every penny is needed to help these incredible creatures.

The remains of ancient Kaunos include a Roman thater, a Byzantine basilica, the Roman bath, and the rock tombs.
Although I do not have the opportunity to visit here, our historical values, I can see them during the boat tour in the Dalyan River. They are eye-catching rock tombs that are said to be 2400 years old on the slopes of the ancient city of Kaunos overlooking the river. Famous for these tombs, The Caunos Ancient City of Caunos host thousands of visitors every year. There were also boat tours from Dalyan and the journey took 10 minutes. This ancient city is also on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List.

What a surprise arriving in the dark to step out onto my bedroom balcony and behold such a beautiful view. The subtle lighting gave a glimpse of the full beauty of the tombs that greeted me when I stepped out the next morning. Finding out that Dalyan is a protected area explained the breathtaking views from our villa and a river boat trip afforded an even closer look at these historic tombs. What a revelation to stay in Dalyan surrounded by such natural rugged scenery, history and wildlife completely unspoilt by any building higher that two storeys. No high rise hotels spoiling this gem of an area!

We took the boat to the beach and the journey was great to experience nice and relaxing along the river. When we arrived we decided to walk to the end of the beach to visit the turtle sanctuary it was very interesting and worth visiting and making a donation. we walked back along the sandy beach and it was a very pleasant day out we returned via boat and arrived in the evening sun which was very nice. The beach has plently of facilities , showers changing huts etc and a cafe type place plently of sun loungers and nice warm sea! Overall it was a great day out!

What a wonderful place for a holiday. I travelled with adult family who visited six years ago and how lucky I feel to have been with them this time. The villa we stayed in was ideal with a fantastic view of the tombs and a few minutes walk to the local supermarket and then into the town dotted with restaurants along the way. The town itself had everything you need where we have enjoyed meals, drinks, shopping and strolling, experiencing the friendly service from the locals - the Saturday market is a must for superb fresh produce! The icing on the cake though were the two private boat trips we had for the five of us, one along the river and another out to sea. The river is so unspoilt and the surrounding views breathtaking with the delights of crab fishing (which we turned back into the river after admiring the beauty and varying sizes of the 21 we caught with the added bonus of watching the birds diving for the chicken bait we left) turtle spotting (so big!) and swimming especially in the hot springs. Out to sea we visited coves and beaches that were simply stunning. Thank goodness the area is protected because not once was our view of the natural rugged beauty marred by any building over two storeys high. A wonderful place and such friendly people. A revelation!

This lovely little mosque is set in a lovely location next to the river in gardens of roses and next to a public square where the buses go to the beach and the local town and where ladies sell their handmade things every evening. I only had a glimpse inside the mosque itself and it was very simple and pretty but we were very grateful for the very clean toilets attached to the mosque. They are the nicest cleanest toilets I have ever seen and the people running them were always lovely and polite. They cost 1 1/2 lira to use. Next to the mosque there is also a lovely dovehouse.
