This 32-acre vineyard and winery was established in 1980 and planted with the following varieties: Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot.
I have to admit that I visited LI without having any knowledge of the vibrant wine industry here. Bedell Cellers was very welcoming and the young lady doing the pouring was super friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and the area.it seems to be the practice that if you purchase wine, the tasting fee is waived and that was the case here. The grounds are beautiful and the pavilion made me long for summer. One of the wines was half off, making a 70$ bottle of wine reasonably affordable. Since my goal has always been to find the best possible wine at the least possible price, I doubt I can accomplish that at any of the local vineyards. Still, a really fun stop.

Great Vineyard off the beaten path away from commercialized Vineyards that lose intimacy and coziness. This place has great service and even better wine making tasting simple. All of the food options compliment the wine fantastically. Cheese platters, nut platters, and chocolate platters are perfect. The wine is the main ingredient to their charm and family style atmosphere. Vino from the heart is what you will get here..

Visiting Long Island we decided to stop at this vineyard as we love sparkling wines
For our surprise all the decoration is related to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, what delighted us as we are from that city and country.
Appart of the pleasure of seeing pictures and memorabilia from our country we were very impressed with the selection and quality of the wines, the knowledge of the people who served us and the beautiful vineyard they have
Would go back any time

Tucked away on the North Fork of Long Island's Bordelaise microclimate, this estate vineyard has fermented vintage after vintage of critically acclaimed wines.
I have been to almost every vineyards tour. This one exceeds in many ways. The history of vineyards on Long Island starts at this winery. You will hear the whole history. You also learn every step of winemaking in great detail. I learned quite a bit. After the tour take a tasting. If you love red wine they have Long Islands best reds here. You can sign up for tour on website.

Raphael is one of the loveliest wineries in Long Island. Located on the North Fork, the Tasting Room is in an artistic location, surrounded by the vineyard. Formal tours of the winery with tasting of several wines, or just tasting in a relaxing environment while enjoying a few snacks are all possibilities. Tasting can be indoors or on the lovely patio (weather permitting).
Raphael produces a few whites (Chardonnay, Riesling) and several reds (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot) as well as a premium red blend (Primo). The winery hosts a number of musical events every months and is a perfect place for private events (weddings, anniversary celebrations, birthdays, etc.)

Located on Long Island's North Fork, this winery contains more than 90 acres of vinifera grapes and a comfortable wine tasting room that makes a visit to this establishment a memorable one.
Osprey's Dominion clearly know what they are doing, playing to the young party crowd who on the day we visited were arriving by a constant stream of limos and buses. Swigging rose from the bottle and tottering around the large lawn area. It clearly drives a lot of revenue. As someone who wanted to try a winery while on Long Island and appreciates wine, it was all a little disappointing. We had a flight of 3 wines for $8 and got a little bit of information but this is far from a tutored tasting. It's a shame as the wines were very good and I actually bought 6 bottles to take away. If you are serious about your wines you may want to look elsewhere, but check for limos in the car park first! Having now done a bit more research I can see that other wineries are discouraging people bringing food and being able to buy wine to drink on premise by the bottle, I guess to make sure the wine experience is paramount. But if you wanna party, this is the place to go. Each to their own.

What a wonderful experience here at Croteaux Vineyards. We went during the week so it was not too crowded. We tasted still Rose and sparkling Rose, really good. I would recommend this as one of the stops on your wine tour on the east end. You will not be disappointed with the wine or the atmosphere.

If any wine lover needs a reason besides superb wines to visit Lenz Winery, here it is: This year Lenz celebrates it 40th birthday. By the time standards of Europe's great wine regions, no big deal. But on the North Fork of Long Island, that makes Lenz an early pioneer. And the people behind Lenz have zero intention of resting on their laurels, because the wines and the experience here are world class.
Recently my wife and I spent 2 1/2 hours with Sean in their rustically elegant tasting room. We sampled almost the entire lineup of current offerings. We know Sean well from several previous visits. Although a young man, he brings wine savvy to every pour, explaining as much or as little as every customer wants or needs. An oenophile could talk wine all day with Sean, and a neophyte could gather all the right information to make informed buying decisions. That's how to conduct a tasting, Sean. Thanks again.
Across the board, every wine was outstanding. That kind of consistent excellence is rare for any winery, a testament to the people behind the scenes. These include longtime gifted winemaker Eric Fry, longtime vineyard manager Sam McCullough, and owners Peter and Deborah Carroll. Along with one of the best staffs and some of the oldest vineyards on the North Fork, Lenz is as good as it gets.
Although we loved every wine we tried, we narrowed our purchase down to 1 1/2 cases of varied wines. We splurged on one bottle each of their Old Vines selections, two whites, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer, and two reds, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, all of which compare favorably to any similar wine from France or California. Old Vines is their Reserve designation and indicates that the fruit comes from Lenz's oldest vineyard blocks. Vine age matters a lot with wine, and these four are well worth the price. Delicious now but absolutely cellar worthy, especially the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Other favorites include their Champagne-quality Cuvée made from Pinot Noir, their Blanc de Noir, a rose' of Pinot Noir, a new rose' called Firefly made from Cabernet Sauvignon, a first ever release of Sauvignon Blanc which shows excellent character, and a white blend called Tete a Tete, a delicious summery white.
We've visited Lenz to taste and buy wines every time on the North Fork, because the wines, the people, and the setting are great. If you love wine, come say Happy Birthday to a Long Island legend.
PS - In September they host the Lenz World Merlot Classic. To this event they invite 60-80 of the world's greatest Merlot producers, including many Long Island standouts, to pour their wines for tasting and comparison. No wine lover should miss this! Call me tasting room for details!
We'll see you there.
