Big Creek Greenway

Reviewed By jia y - c

We live close by and take daily walks on the Big Creek Greenway. There are public restrooms, water fountains, and a small shelter at the entrance off of Bethelview Road. The trail is mildly strenuous except for the sawtooth pass section. It's closed after heavy rain.

Sims Lake Park

Lake with ducks and fish that the little ones can see swimming around. Even a concrete ping pong table ( bring your paddles and ping pong ball). Blacktop trails are very shaded - lots of benches to just sit and watch nature.

Sawnee Mountain Preserve

Reviewed By AUROBINDO S - ALPHARETTA

I hate even writing this review and revealing my secret, but alas, I must. There are 2 parts to the preserve. One is the trail that leads to the mountain itself, along with Indian Seats, etc. It's beautiful and heavily trafficked in nice weather. The other, hidden gem is on Tribble Gap Road and it is a 5 mile ridge hike in almost solitary conditions. If you do this hike and see more than 12 people on it, it'll be an unusually busy day. The last 3 times I've been - 0, 3, 7. And so close to the northeast suburbs too.

Poole's Mill Covered Bridge

Reviewed By Rhyne A - Alpharetta, Georgia

This is a beautiful, wild area with quite a surprising amount to do. There is the covered bridge for pictures, the rocks for sliding, and a playground and picnic tables for family gatherings. It isn't crazy busy, and very shaded. However, you should know that I haven't been there without seeing someone get hurt in some way, so be careful and watch your kids!

Attended a birthday party here for a small child. The family rented one of the sheltered places for the gathering near the covered playground. The playground offers nice variety or different toys for the kids to play on...spiderweb, large bridges and climbing things, drums, and all levels of swings. They keep it well maintained! The sheltered area also had a plug-in which was nice. :)

Didn’t find anything for seniors, nor youngsters, nor adults. Not a family friendly place for a public pool. No snacks, can’t bring your own as nothing allowed but the pool. I’d agree if they only exempted glass, but the rule was nothing. I think they just want to do inter school swim meets there. Not a fun community pool like I grew up in :(

Central Park

Reviewed By Loki2990 - Atlanta, Georgia

I have lived in Forsyth County since 1988. In that time the County approved a SPLOSH tax that funded many big multi-function parks. These parks have soccer and football fields, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, walking paths and some dog parks. They are first class. You can picnic or just exercise.
It is a great asset to the County!
