Please note: Yarak is NOT open as a walk in Public Visitor Centre. Yarak birds of prey is a stand alone privately owned specialist Bird of Prey Centre which concentrates on hands on experiences for people wishing to handle and fly birds of prey and learn about them all in a totally private environment. The centre is run by experienced professional falconers that really care about their birds and customers. All the birds here are classed as "family" and are treated with a huge amount of respect and want for nothing. All experiences are strictly by appointment only.
This is the second time we have visited Yarek for the full day flying experience and both times have been outstanding! The groups are kept small (around 6-10 people) which gives you the opportunity to handle, feed and fly nearly every bird they bring you on the day. We have been introduced to different birds on both visits plus bonus surprises that were not officially part of the day - the first time we saw owl babies, the second we were introduced to 2 very young Harris hawks in the process of having a bond formed with John. The sheer passion and love they have for the birds shines through the entire day! There is the opportunity to sponsor one of your favourite birds if you like and you can walk round some of the aviaries to see the birds in their home. Yarek also offer hot meals and drink onsite, there is a small dining room, clean and tidy bathroom facilities, and multiple picnic benches if you choose to bring your own food. Please note, the centre is not open to the public to just turn up on the day, you need to prebook an experience with them which in my opinion makes it all the more special! I cannot recommend them highly enough! We will be back!

A fabulous venue. We have been here a few times to watch bands playing. The acoustics are very good. The seating is comfortable and well planned. A bar and snacks area.

Bear Town is the ultimate children’s role play experience where imaginations come to life and anything is possible! With 12 unique role play areas, each more exciting than the last, Bear Town will inspire your child to broaden their personal, social and emotional development, expand their communication and language skills all the while gaining confidence and most importantly having fun.
We have now visited a few times with a 2 year old and 7 year old. This is nothing like soft play. It is an indoor town full of fun areas to explore and enjoy. It is an amazing concept that the children love and a brilliant cafe too with great coffee.

St Andrews is a gem. Many interesting features and a wonderful Burne Jones window. We arrived just as the morning service was ending on the final day before the second covid19 lockdown. What a very friendly welcome from everybody including the vicar .

13Th Century grade one listed church with a fine chequerboard tower. The rood screen is thought to be the prototype for all the other similar screens in this part of the West Country and still has it's original 600 year old paint and gold leaf. The church interior is very beautiful and light. At the rear is a gallery which was installed in 1632. One of the carvings on the front under the organ is of the head of a Native North American Indian. Recent research has now revealed that this is probably the earliest known depiction of an American First Nation person in Great Britain. As you enter the church yard from the lychgate on the left there is a huge Yew Tree. This tree is one of the ancient trees of Britain and over 1,500 years old and known as the Kentisbeare Yew. During the winter the church is normally only open at the weekend . During summertime when the clocks go forward the church is open every day. If locked a notice in the porch will tell you where you can borrow a key.

Dropped into The Antique Village to meet a friend this week, great atmosphere, eclectic mix of Antiques and Vintage items from a variety of dealers offering something for everyone. I came away with a lovely Beryl Woodsware Teapot from Floras Attic, a gift for my daughter and very reasonably priced. The Coffee was excellent, blueberry slice to die for and all at a reasonable price. Will definitely be visiting again and can highly recommend a visit.

Diggerland is The Ultimate Adventure Theme Park Experience where children and adults alike can ride, drive and operate REAL diggers, dumpers and other full- size construction machinery. Diggerland is the perfect destination for action, fun and thrill packed family days out. Fun for all ages (subject to height restrictions), Diggerland with its 20 different rides and drives and an array of additional activities is the ideal theme park for small to large groups looking for something exciting and truly unique. Get to grips with real JCBs and 180/360 excavators, take a head-reeling turn or two on the Spindizzy, rise to lofty heights and enjoy the views on the Skyshuttle, enjoy an off-road ride on the Groundshuttle, or have a go on the Dodgems and Go-Karts!
My husband and I took our 4 year old grandson for the day. It was great fun. Very well organised and amazing for our grandson to be able to operate real diggers. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. However I did feel for the staff working out in the open all day without any shade. It was extremely hot and they had no where to go to get out of the sun. Surely a parasol or even a permanent shade at each entrance to the rides wouldn’t cost too much to construct. You could use the diggers to dig the hole for the posts!

Out of the way but we found plenty to do in the area. Cheapest pub accom in Devon on the day we booked, but must be far from the worst! The bathroom in room 2 looks minuscule and cramped but the toilet flushes well, the fan does a great job and the shower was superb! Everything was really functional and kind of as you'd expect of an old country pub at this kind of price point, with the usual small, oddly shaped rooms, mish/mash of changes and additions over the years, none of them finished very well. The difference in this case was that it all worked and worked very well. The bed/bedding was really good, the biscuits with the tea stuff were unusual and really good, the towels were fantastic and the secondary glazing worked really well. The shower (apart from being in a small cubicle) was amazingly good. There's a fairly basic pub downstairs that does a good pint of red cider. It has Sky Sports so you get a decent TV package in the room as well. Their C19 restrictions are well thought out and not over the top for the majority, but several older and obviously more vulnerable clients were having no problem keeping more separated. Currently the kitchen is being remodeled so there is no food but they let you bring in a take-away! We ate in the Hickory Smoke house a short drive away and brought back onion rings to eat as nibbles with our cider in the bar! Or there's fish and chips pretty much next door! If you're looking for luxury you won't like the ratty paint edges, paint drips, electric points not square and all that sort of thing that visually isn't great, but ultimately does not actually affect how comfortable you are! A few spare hours with a critical eye, some matching paint, a scraper, some sealant, basic DIY skills could make a lot of difference to the visual aspect. It's easy to make a home made key fob look professional at no real cost, but they've not bothered.
