I have driven past this museum hundreds of times but stopping and taking the time to look at this impressive and varied display of Australia's historical past was way above what I expected. There was great variety, and professionally laid out in a Aussie outback type experience. The quality of display items was impressive. I never new Ray White started his empire in Crows Nest. There was a lot to look at- took almost 3 hours . Despite the dry conditions all of the displays were clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. One of those local gems that all should see. For a volunteer base organisation i can just say WELL DONE ! You can see printing presses, old schools, medical and nursing history, war display , dairy display, and much more including how people lived in their home from day to day with a huge collection of items to view. Not only are there good displays but many original buildings moved onto site, reflecting a history of rural Queensland..

We went for a short drive ex Crows nest after visiting the gift shop opposite Emmeraude restaurant at Hampton and at the suggestion of the lovely Kate. The gift shop and Bunnyconnellen are associated, If venturing to Bunnycollen enter Swain Road off the Haden Crows Nest road, as coming the longer way down Swain road is best for 4 wheel drives or higher clearance vehicles, On our arrival we were blown away by the lovely old farm shed venue and adjoining shop (also in an adjoining shed), set in spectacular rolling farmland. The immediate setting was very comfortable, The four of us did not sample the limited food offer but seeing what was presented we felt it looked very good. We did however sample the limited range of branded wines. Have to say the unwooded Chardonnay was very pleasant. The shop markets a quirky range of homemaker personal items In all a very relaxing and pleasant time enhanced by the wonderful and informed assistance of the staff.

Only open Thursday mornings. The Crows Nest Community Nursery helps to support native wildlife by propagating indigenous trees, shrubs and ground cover plants that occur naturally within, and beyond, our regional boundaries. If you want to encourage birds, bees and butterflies to visit your garden, property or re-vegetation site, we have lots of plants for you to choose from to attract them. Our local native plants are essential for the survival and well-being of our native animals who rely on them for food and shelter. Check the website for the opening hours.

Easy walking along a well formed track. Interesting trees and birdlife, along with frog choruses although there was not a lot of water in the creek. We enjoyed our hour long wander.

Established in 1903, Crows Nest Soft Drinks is one of the oldest surviving small town soft drink and cordial manufacturers. There is a collection of vintage bottles and memorabilia in the shop display. Visitors are welcome to taste test and take a factory tour. Open weekdays from 8.30am to 4.30pm and most weekends from 9am to 2pm (would Phone to confirm). A true taste of the past!

Obviously there has been a draught for quite some time. However, the stream flows all the way to make up for 2 falls and in between locals and tourists come to have a splash. Camp grounds are okay, but the walk to the lookout is easy and gives spectacular views over the canyon.

Crows Nest Regional Art Gallery actively nurtures and promotes the local artistic community, with monthly exhibitions featuring the original works of local painters, sculptors, photographers, textile artists, ceramicists, printmakers and wood turners. The gallery also regularly features exhibitions and artists from outside the region and holds a popular Christmas Festival Exhibition where art works are available for sale. The gallery's annual Crows Nest Acquisitive Art Prize has gained a steady reputation, offering generous prize money and attracting high quality entries from far and wide. Established in 1996 in the board room of the original Crows Nest Shire Chambers, the gallery is run by a part-time coordinator and a dedicated team of volunteers. It provides an arts reference point and fosters a community cultural identity, not only for those directly involved, but for visitors and the local community.
