Lovely park area with a native vegetation section and lake frequented by varieties of water birds. The area provides something for most visitors, BBQs, playground, amphitheatre, Walkway around the lake, or just spread a rug on the grass and enjoy a picnic. The park was once part of a dairy farm owned by Neil & Hazel McDougall and established in 1914. In 1954 they agreed to sell the property to to South Perth conditional upon them being allowed to live in the house for the remainder of their lives. Neil died in 1964 and Hazel in 1979. The old farmhouse has been retained and is now an Arts and Crafts Centre. Worth visiting.

The driving range, however, is free for all -- no bookings required. As usual, with bookings the earlier the better. The City of South Perth has the course in tip-top condtion.

The Cygnet Cinema began life as a prestige movie theatre in 1938. It was built in fashionable Modernist style; the theatre is now on the WA Heritage Register. When it was built, Come was developing into a comfortable middle class suburb. Quite a bit of money hass been spent recently renovating the theatre; parking is usuallyavailable. The "lolly shop" is popular with cinema patrons.

During my trips to Perth, one of my duties is to take my sister's dog Twinkletoes to play at the Dog Park at Olives Reserve every afternoon.. The dogs all have a lot of fun running after each other and I chat to the other dog owners, who always remember me. There's a a special Dog Gym, which I'm told that the younger dogs love using. The Dog Playground is a "Perth thing" which I have seen nowhere else on earth. Twinky is around nine now and her legs are getting stiff and she no longer chases the ball as quickly as she once did, but she still loves the Dog Park.

The Como Beach Jetty, built 1907 and rehashed in 1982 (freeway changes) is 212 mtrs making it the longest jetty on the Swan river, a forgotten beach and ferry service still remains a popular walk trail and picnic area. Idea sunset as well as nice walk trail along the beach riverside
