Coba (pronounced cō-bǝ) is an ancient Maya city on the Yucatán Peninsula, located in what is now northeastern Quintana Roo, Mexico. The site is the nexus of the largest network of stone causeways of the ancient Mayan world, and it contains many engraved and sculpted stelae that document ceremonial life and important events of the Late Classic Period (AD 600-900) of Mesoamerican civilization.[1] The adjacent modern village bearing the same name, reported a population of 1,278 inhabitants in the 2010 Mexican federal census.[2]
The coolest thing about this site it's the bicycle ride through the jungle it's a most to get on the bikes plus is only 30 pesos to rent it.. the view at the top of the main pyramid its amazing all you can see its miles of pure green in every direction it's kind of hard to climb all the way up but totally worth the effort... if you're staying in the tulum area definitely should go to coba ruins, just try to be there early because gets packed..

We came here right after visiting Coba. It is easy to find just use google maps, and we visited another one also very nearby here. Entrance fee is 100 pesos and there are life vests. Just an FYI, the photos show a dock, but it was submerged about 3 feet underwater when we were there. This is a super deep cenote! I'm not sure how deep it is, but I think it was the deepest one we visited. Well worth the visit!

Had never been to a cenote, 2nd cenote was eery and deep, we snorkeled in it, 2 tall stages to dive into the cenote. It was amazing to see the up close rock formations we had seen in other places.

Well this was a wonderful experience, a place that you must visit. we visited the “Aldea Maya Village” as usual always with our local hotel taxi guide, we arrived at this place from a long road that leads to Cancun near Coba, just a stroll down in the jungle by the roadside there is a small village with a few families with children’s and some pet animals all free walking all over the place. It was late evening but they welcome us with lots of love and while they were having dinner we also had a taste of their food. One of them spoke good English and explained how they live and support themselves by showing us the pharmacy gardens the water well the ancient tools hut, the inside of their houses/wooden huts and how they make honey and gum and lots of other things… no money was asked but obviously I left them a tip… the rest you’ll find out for yourself!!! Great to see. Since writing the above I have read some other contributors from the past that do not represent what we have seen..!!! Cannot understand why however our was not the customary package arranged!!! Simply on our own with a dedicated taxi… also these local Mayan families are known by our hotel owner by many years and we are astonished from what we have read from other posts!!! A must see… judge for yourself. Ciao for now
A sanctuary of Honey and Cacao to transmit the importance of the conservation of the Melipona Bee in its natural habitat and Cacao. Chococacao Maya is a historical site where the Mayans rested and purified themselves before visiting the great pyramid of Coba. On one side of Chococacao passes the Sacbe a very important sacred road that connected Coba with Chichen Itza.
