We were part of a group that used the museum as a venue for a dinner. Extremely interesting and glad we participated as we probably would not have see it on our own. Docents are dedicated and passionate about their mission. All ages can learn...MoreThank you for your review.

Operated by the City of Canal Fulton and the Canal Fulton Heritage Society, the St. Helena III Canal Boat rides offer the public the chance to ride a replica cargo canal boat pulled by two work horses one mile south and back on the original Ohio & Erie Canal. The boat travels past the renovated McLaughlin Dry Dock and Lock 4. During the one hr ride, the crew steer with a rudder and poles while a historian on board provides facts and stories of life during Ohio’s canal era.
This little excursion exceeded our expectations. The boat ride was a full hour, with our guide providing narration and history of the Ohio Canal systems. The guide was very knowledgeable, and even played some period-themed music on his banjo and harmonica. He gave us the opportunity to climb on top the boat at one point to enjoy the view of the canal from that perspective as well. Fairly priced for what you receive, and highly informative. Well worth our time.

This quiet memorial park makes you aware of the price that was paid and is still being paid...for my freedom. The devotion of the caretakers make this small piece of ground...a true tribute to the lives of those that GAVE THEIR ALL.

We took the grandkids here, played on the playground that looks brand new, walked down to the bog (or fen). Saw many unique plants but no animals. The trails were nicely maintained and mostly clearly marked. The composite construction pathway right over the bog is very nice. We missed the beaver dam, I guess we will have to go back. We were a little surprised to see a house perched on a hill on the other side of the bog, but I guess you can't stop progress.

I love coming here for the mini golf course (altho I do think the original course is better than the retro course, mainly because it's so much prettier!) The grounds are beautiful and well kept. And they keep adding more things, esp for younger children. But the go-karts and bumper cars and bumper boats are fun for all ages :)

Working with the Canal Fulton Heritage Society, the Center sells the St. Helena III Canal Boat tickets, as well as offers video and panel displays on the history of the canal and Canal Fulton. Groups are welcome. Accessible restrooms are available.
We visited Canal Fulton in October when the beautiful fall foliage was out.. It was a beautiful day. Its a great place to hike on the towpath beside the canal and watch the magnificent mules, draw the boat like they did in the 19th century... it takes you back in another time zone.. Ofcourse we ended up doing the boat ride ( the last of the season- aren't we lucky) and had a great time learning about the history of the canal system and development of cities like Akron, Canton, Fulton and big companies..
The visitor center was very informative with pictures and models of those days...and had clean bathrooms (yay!). I am sure its a popular place for school excursions during summer.
Only complaint: they should put a traffic light for getting in and out of the centre.. the STOP sign didn't help... we waited for a long time to take a left turn.. the traffic was crazy with bikers (both adult and young), hikers and teen drivers..The icecream shop across the street was nice.

As a micro distillery, we specialize in producing craft spirits in small barrel batches with close attention paid to the details. All ingredients are from local resources in Northeastern Ohio and processed directly by the owner himself. Traditional distilling methods combined with new-age distilling technology ensure a consistently smooth and quality whiskey. Our featured product is Apparition Original Moonshine, a clear, unaged corn whiskey made from traditional corn mash with corn grown right up the road. Smooth and nostalgic tasting...just like our grandfathers made.
5 of us went for a tasting and the owner gave us a first hand tale of how the distillery started. He was very entertaining and congenial host. His product is outstanding! The tasting room is in a basement type setting......reminds you of what a 'speakeasy' looked like in the day. If you like corn whiskey, this is the place. Delicious flavors and he has lots of projects for new flavors in the works. Call them for hours of operation, just to be sure you don't miss out. GO!

I love biking, walking, and jogging on the Towpath. Well-maintained. Lots of trailheads. I most familiar with the trailheads in Massillon and downtown Canal Fulton- very nice and convenient. Several food options nearby. You can combine a bike or hike on the Towpath with a ride on the CVSR for $3/person. Can't beat it! Check the railroad times before you head out tho.
