We enjoyed the free viewing platform with our guide. He was very informative. If you are interested in the interactive experience wear pants and closed toed shoes. I recommend this for animal lovers.

Took my wife and 2 granddaughters and their friend, mother, and sister. Only me and my wife have ever rode, but little did we know that we have actually never ridden. LOL. This is real trail riding. Fairly steep climbs, river crossings and making your own trail around sloppy trail spots. Really just a great time. Had a cowboy meal afterwards on the fire. The horses are very very good. I am 250 lbs and was very nervous about making my horse upset by pulling the reigns to move him left or right, but the horse was very well trained and responsive. One little girl who went with us was hysterical and screamed at the top of her lungs that she wanted off and the female staff rider tied onto her and stayed with her the whole time and calmed her down. She actually had a great time after about half a mile. I can't say enough good things about Salt Creek. Very beautiful area as well. The horses are very strong and were able to carry our weight without much effort. I learned a lot on this ride. I really learned how to ride better. First timers need not worry. It's very kid friendly, but it is more than your typical trail ride. There are some pretty gnarly climbs. It was really muddy and sloppy when we went and the horses were sure footed. It would be a piece of cake if was even partially dry. The guide avoided the really soft areas through the woods on newly cut trails. Very good guides. I could go on. Best in Indiana no doubt, probably even several states around. Our girls were, 9, 10, and 11. Two of them were very small. 52 inches and 70 lbs. No problem.

So much fun and great introduction to ziplining for our young daugters (11,7). We will go again for the longer tour when we have more time but the Defy Gravity was just enough to get the girls familiar and comfortable.

We were passing through from Indy to Cincy on US 52 and decided to stop at the Canal Village in Metamora. Unfortunately, most things are closed on Monday and Tuesday and we were there on a Tuesday.
That being said, we could see that this must be a nice place to visit when all the shops are open. The shop owners we spoke with were very friendly.

This 7 mile long Corp of Engineers impoundment has been a destination location since its impoundment in 1974. Questions have been raised occasionally about the solidity of the dam due to marshy ground below the earthwork but the Corp inspections have always found everything acceptable.
Boating is the primary recreational use. Weekends see extreme numbers of watercraft on the lake during the daylight hours. Problems on the lake were influential in getting laws passed requiring watercraft operating licenses for juveniles due to a problem with jet ski operation on the lake - a trend that went nationwide within several years.
Fishing draws individuals plus local clubs for bass tournaments. Walleye, crappie, and striped bass are the main species. Bass and Muskie are present but not the predominant species in the lake. Over the last 40 years, the lake has become eutrophic and silted in severely eliminating many of the better fishing areas.
Campgrounds( both state run and private), dockage, and a swimming beach offer additional activities on the lake. Ainsley's Café is the only food service actually on the lake during the season.
The lake is served by a variety of businesses, convenience stores, groceries, bait shops, and restaurants with in the local area.

Serious FUN!!! What a perfect day for canoeing on the Whitewater River! The sun was shining and the water was cool and clear!
We did the 8 mile trip. I would definitely suggest this route if you have never canoed before, or it has been a while. There are plenty of places you can stop along the route if you need a break, want to stop and eat the lunch you packed or just jump in the water and cool off.
The water level was up and it was moving at decent speed, so the actual paddling was enjoyable - it wasn't to much. You really didn't have to worry about getting stuck on the bottom or on any rocks (except in just a couple of places - and you could easily navigate these areas to avoid them).
At the end of your trip you just pull up on the bank (easily marked) and leave your canoe, drop your life vest and oars on the trailer and dump any trash in the trash bin. Then it is a very short walk down a path to catch the bus back to Morgan's to pick up your keys to at the desk.
This was a great outing, I highly recommend Morgan's for your trip! It is will worth the drive over to Brookville, IN to enjoy a trip down the Whitewater River. We even get to see Mr. Morgan, he was there working with his wife - they are very hands on and heavily involved as it is a family business.
Bonus - you can bring your own food and drinks (even adult beverages) and dogs are allowed - yay dogs!
