With many species of wildlife and recreational opportunities, Withlacoochee State Forest has been named one of the "10 Coolest Places You've Never Been in North America" by the World Wildlife Fund.
We stopped for a quick visit to the Ridge Manor Trailhead on Croom Rital Road I would have loved to walk down to the river but I had my elderly mother with me and she wasn't up to it. They have a paved path, too. I hope to stop again and explore more!

We went to Marker 48 to listen to a band called Cottondale Swam play. Being our first visit we weren't sure what the place was about. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The brewery has two areas, one inside and the other outside. The inside has tables to hang out and relax, and/or watch sports. Almost forgot they also have an inside bar area to get adult beverages:). The outside has a stage and a AirStream type camper as the outside adult beverage purchasing area:). There is also corn hole games and ping pong for kids ofall ages. The outside area is covered with astro turf supposedly from LSU stadium, we won't hold that against them:). The large array of craft beverages and awesome atmosphere will bring us back again for sure. So pack up your kids and dogs and go on out and enjoy.

Went on Memorial Day for the last day of their spring season. Was not sure about it since we'd never been and it was literally in the middle of nowhere. However, what a hidden gem! I took my 6 children alone since hubby was working and we all had a blast! Was sorry he didn't get to come.
We spent time in a sunflower maze which took quite a while and a lot of team work to pass through. We fed the pigs, chickens and goats. Went on hayride, planted sunflower seeds in a take home pot, did hula hoops, rolled hay bales and many more activities. We spent a good 3 or 4 hours and enjoyed it so much and it was all included in the admission price which was really reasonable. Will definitely be back in the fall! With dad this time :)

This old home is gorgeous and full of history! We loved visiting and getting to see every room in the home, even the attic! It is decorated with period appropriate furniture and clothing, including some original to the home! The tour guides were very knowledgeable! Everyone can learn something here!

We've donated several railroad and local relics to this museum. It features on original train car of the period and loads of railroad related artifacts, including tools and implements from industries being served by the railroad. Also, a town layout of HO gauge toy trains. One painted like the Atlantic Coast Line engine of the 50's. In the back is the 1925 fire truck used by the city of Brooksville. Ask, and they may allow you to crank the siren. Next door is the old school house. The guided tour is $5.

We hiked on a weekday and were the only car in the parking area. Saw a sandstone, a blue her on, and wood ducks. Walked through a variety of ecosystems - pine woods, lake/pond, fields. Quite nice!

Tour this antebellum mansion filled with belongings from one of the four families that lived here.
Everyone in the area should vist this spot to get a look at the past. The Planation house is well kept and the displays are excellent giving the visitor an accurate glimpse into the past.Glad you enjoyed your visit. Hope to see you again soon!

WE stopped at Boyett's Grove , having seen billboards advertising this attraction. We were very disappointed. Not only were the displays and merchandise old and unattractive, they were faded and dusty and disorganized. We did not go to the out door areas as it was very hot . We did buy some fresh fruit, but that too was overpriced and not at peak condition. I would not advise this as a destination, but OK for an "accidental " stop.

We took the 1.9 mile trail around McKethan Lake. Very flat, easy walk. The area is very interesting, and the nature trail points out a number of unique items. A few of the markers seem to be missing or hard to see. Very nice that the trail passes a park area midway that has restrooms.

This is a typical strawberry/ blueberry picking farm. They also have fruit for sale at the stand where you pay. Prices are fair here and the strawberries were good, the blueberries were a bit sour but it was the begining of the season when we went and they told us they wouldn't be as sweet at usual. It has port a potties
