We had a great time and fantastic champagne food pairing tasting. It was a nice experience to try all the bottles which are good. The enthusiasm of the family and their story makes a difference. Food pairing I recommend to everybody. You get the highest quality food of the region and it matches perfectly with the nice champagne and red wine from Bouzy. Mathilde took her time for us and we really enjoyed it.

The « Bernard TORNAY » champagne estate is located in the village of Bouzy, in the very heart of the Montagne de Reims. Classified as « Grand Cru » 100%, Bouzy is also renowned for the quality of its red wine. Nathalie TORNAY-HUTASSE is the 5th generation of the Tornay family. She took over the family estate founded in the beginning of the 19th century, thus keeping our ancestral traditions. Our family owns 21 hectares of vineyards spreading over some of the most famous Crus of the Champagne region. Our careful selection of grapes from « Premier Cru » and « Grand Cru » terroirs stands for quality and authenticity. We are committed to producing champagne cuvees with a distinctive character, blending Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and offering a wide range which will seduce champagne lovers… Epicureans and connoisseurs will truly enjoy our authentic cuvees born out of tradition and passion for wine.
Really great tasting, very welcoming and exceptional wines. Wide variety but very consistent quality, some great surprises :)

Enjoying one of the finest vineyards of Champagne, the Seconde family, direct descendants of Edmond BARNAUT the founder, perpetuates the long history and the knowledge of winemaking transmitted for five generations. The land is located in one of the most famous villages in Champagne: Bouzy is a rare village to be classified Grand Cru. Our vineyard is divided into many parcels scattered on all Bouzy's land, which offers a diversity of character to the wines and permits us to elaborate seven different Champagnes and two Coteau Champenois appellation still wines: the famous Bouzy Rouge and the unique Clos BARNAUT Rose. Almost a century and a half of history shared between a family, a village and a land causes a specific relationship. Thus a philosophy combining tradition and modernity inspires the work every day. A viticulture that uses plant health products only when natural extracts have reached their limit, the use of organic fertilizers, weed between the vine lines, building of a modern cellar with the advantage of natural air conditioning, roofs of cellars producing photovoltaic energy superior to the consumption are some examples of our approach. We are not owners of our estate, we just are the custodians. To transmit this exceptional heritage sustainably, we must respect our environment and the quality of our production.

If you are in the neighborhood of Bouzy, then we highly recommend you stop at Beaufort for an informative tour and friendly taste of excellent champagne. It was easy to set up an appointment for a tour for 4 by email. The Beaufort representative who conducted our tour and tasting, I believe it was Thierry, was an encyclopedia of knowledge of this wine region. He spoke English fluently and we all really enjoyed our discussion with him. He taught us how the champagne is made, shared a little bit about his family, and his travels on behalf of the winery. The Beaufort family has been making wine since the sixteenth century (see the pic of the family tree) and clearly those skills paid off when they started making champagne. We really enjoyed the blanc de blanc and the rose, and I took a liking to the bouzy rouge. We bought several bottles of the champagne and one of the bouzy rouge. Where else but France can you champagne taste in Bouzy and the next stop is Dizy! We toasted New Year’s eve back in the states with the blanc de blanc! Sante.
