Reviewed By apricot44 - Turkey, null

Nemrut Crater Lakes are natural wonders .. nemrut crater lake is a volcanic mountain located in the eastern Anatolia region of Turkey and bitlis province today. it is adjacent to Lake van, the largest lake in Turkey.there are many volcanic mountains around it.these mountains are tendurek, süphan and ağrı mountains.eastern Anatolia region is the region of Turkey with the largest and highest mountains.lake before volcanic eruptions .Its height is thought to be around 3000 metres. the volcanic mountain is the largest in Turkey and has 2 largest crater lakes in the world. volcanic activity and depressions have reduced the summit of Mount nemrut to about 1000 meters.today, there are 5 crater lakes in the crater of Mount nemrut volcanic.the altitude of the volcanic lakes is about 2250 meters.(sea level).inside the crater, outside the lakes, there are steam chimneys (volcanic magma)-ice caves-naturally formed forest and lakes with different colors and temperatures.Of the 5 crater lakes, the largest is the Cold Lake, which is about 13 km². The hot lake, which is the second largest lake of the Nemrut volcanic crater, is warm and green in color, unlike the cold lake. This lake is an indication that the volcanic mountain is still active.both rain and snowfalls and volcanic waters feed the lake.the water of the lake is blue in color and drinkable referencesit contains freshwater fish.the volcanic mountain is thought to have been active for approximately 90,000 to 30,000 years, and the crater formed during these time intervals.before the volcano became active, Lake van was an open Basin and extended to the Muş city plain, while it became a closed Basin Lake when volcanic lava blocked its front.as a result of volcanic eruptions, small tumulus have formed around the crater.numerous varieties of Obsidian, andesite and Tuff are present around the crater. In the crater, there is a forest area that has not been formed by human hand and has been formed by natural ways. It is known that the volcanic mountain erupted lava in AD 1440-1441.
