I ve been travellilng a bit, but I confess I admire Brazil more and more when I come back. Specially when I am able to travel just 30 km from my home and enjoy the beauty of our Beaches on a calm and quiet week day. The vegetation in Brazil is so dense and green... And in this region that is covered by a road that takes you from SANTOS to RIO DE JANEIRO it is possible to see some of the most beautiful and awesome sea sightseeings along a considerable distance. In Itaguaré you can just park your car in the road -there are some simple restaurants where you can eat fresh oysters- and walk a short trail thru the "restinga" (very short vegetation, full of "bromelias") and arrive to one end of a desert beach. Just relax and walk on the sand up to the mouth of the river. Depending whether is low or high tide, you can cross the river and walk to the other end of the beach. You can choose to have a swim in the river or the sea. It is delightfull!! If you still have time, get the car, drive a little bit longer and visit BORA BORA.. another small and breathtaking beach. Or still.. go further to Guaratuba. Walk through the beach, cross the river and look for a beautiful old tree fallen on the sand and now covered with beautiful bromelias and other vegetation. It is the perfect postcard!! ENJOY!! I am mentioning a website of a ecotour agency in case you need/want a guide. But you can do it yourself if you have an adventurer spirit.

Very nice beach without infrastructure - very nice and natural - no bars - so not much people. Very dog friendly ?

I went there with a family I visited in Brazil, and I think it is a private area, but I am not 100 % sure.
It seemed very fancy, and was quiet and clean, and felt very secure.
There were different areas on the beach with chairs, sunbeds and parasols for the different apartemen-tblocks and apartements.
The beach was very clean too, and it was comfortable to lay on, the sand did not get stuck everywhere. The waves was quite big, but not too scary.
There were food-carts with options for coconuts, hot corn, pastels and fried shrimps and drinks. Quite expencive.
There were also a couple carts with beachwear, blankets and beach-toys.
Some people went around selling jewlery, grilled cheese and fruits.
It was a lovely place, I really enjoyed it, but I don't think I could afford it on my own.

This beach is apt for entertainment. It is excellent for sports as well as calmer activities such as sunbathing. I do not recommend going to this beach during brazilian holidays because it tends to get very full and crowded. It is a clean beach but has lots of activity and vendors. If one is not staying in a place with beach service it is very hard to find a spot to settle. The beach has Mountains covered in green on either side which makes it very nice. During some days the tide is high and people are squished together. The sand in the beach is very hard so for those who like walking a lot I recommend that you bring shoes.

Sided by Riviera, this beach is less full, better for family with children. Less food options, take yours.
