Jericho Lake ATV Park

Reviewed By KLynnB - Boston, Massachusetts

We recently went on an ATV trip with some friends to Jericho State Park. We arrived on a Thursday night and stayed until Monday. Some of us camped in tents while others rented cabins (beds only).

Definitely the one site where they don't rake or try to have clear ground for tents. So arriving in the dark was a little more challenging, you couldn't just pop your tent up, we had to clear the site first. The fire pits are nice, they have a nice little store and even thought the bathroom is called "the pit" because it's literally just a seat with a hole they do a darn good job of trying to keep it clean. It would be awesome to have a shower, even if not an indoor one with warm water, after a few days I would have taken a cold one....so maybe if they can manage a shower head somewhere that would be awesome!

The ATV adventure I hear was nice, I didn't personally go due to budgeting reasons but everyone who did loved it. PLEASE NOTE not all rental places provide goggles, so check first. This was a big deal for some since it was really dusty out.

If not ATV'ing the beach is nice and they allow dogs and even have a seperate area where they can enjoy the water also.

I save the worse part for last... Making the reservations is a HORRIBLE experience, they require everyone's including license plates then say you cannot book as a group, each site has to have one person booking and if they don't make it before everyone else they won't allow the others to check in...it's just the most complicated process. Please if they are reading this I hope they will just allow one person to book x amount of sites with one CC. You'd think they would love the ease of this. We had to call multiple times because someone who was supposed to arrive first couldn't get out of work so we had to switch the person who was checking in....blah!

St. Anne's Church

This grand, historic Roman Catholic Church located in downtown Berlin, New Hampshire is over a century old. Built by French-Canadian immigrants seeking to create a solitary monument to the beauty of their faith amongst the utilitarian milltown surroundings, its simple, Romanesque brick exterior is contrasted by the awe-inspiring Italian Baroque artwork with Romanesque flares in its interior.

The church is a beautiful church. If you get a chance to check it out there are many stained glass windows and statues throughout the church. Everywhere you look there is something to see. Everyone is welcome to celebrate mass on Saturdays and Sundays.

First, let's start with Lanette.

I arrived early for my 9am tour (first tour of the day).
People were already leaving on a tour. "WTH?, I'm supposed to be first - I gotta catch a plane".

When I told Lanette, "Hey, I think my family is supposed to be on that coach. We paid for the first coach.".

Her exact words and I kid you not, "NO! You signed up for the 9am tour".
Her tone was a bit aggressive for a front counter person.

THIS IS COPIED FROM THEIR WEBSITE:
Want to make sure you have a seat?
We offer advance reservations for the FIRST tour of the day (9:00am).

****

Needless to say that I wanted to get in Lanette's face and say, let's look at your website. And that I didn't appreciate being called a liar.
But there was a minor with me and didn't want him to see a confrontation on his vacation.

I wanted the zip up fleece jacket from there, $60, but I was sooo pissed off at her, I didn't want to give them the extra money.

Now on to Patrick.

If you go, I hope that you get him. He really is awesome and loves his job.

My Advice,
Don't buy the 9am tickets thinking that you are going to see the fresh snow.
Someone walked in right after me and got two tickets.
And we had to take the 3rd coach out that morning.

Just ask for the Patrick Coach.
Thanks, Patrick.

I was the one with the b/f who kept talking to you at the top, on Presidents Day, and I kept trying to pull him away. :)

I love Farmer's Markets but this one leaves much to be desired. One vendor always has produce that is not in season (at least not within a 250 mile radius). The idea is for this to be LOCAL food. Some of the vendors are good (the kettle corn and Middle Intervale Farm) but other are just sub-par. Has potential but needs some serious improvement.

First of all, as others mentioned, there is a lot of downtime. The email says 1:30-5:30 for the Pontook Dam afternoon departure. The 30 minutes ahead of bus departure (to 'get your gear' is the start. Then the 30-40 minutes on the bus (they call it 20). We were told an hour and a half on the river. We literally spent less than 45 minutes rafting. The rest was playing games in a life jacket and helmet in the river. And we were back at the gorham company by 4:20. We never did receive a river side snack, which it stated in several places was included. And we heard all about how our guide was so young and how it's her first season doing this. Doesn't really gain your confidence. Regardless, the trip was fair. I'm glad my kids got to experience it,but I would not choose this company again for the price we paid.

WREN Makers Studio has brought Berlin back to life. We can't find the time to participate in all of the artistic and educational activities that WREN offers. Our family loves to spend time together in the clay studio. After taking some wonderful classes with Maria Neal, my husband and young teenagers have joined me for some of our best tech-free time we've had making mugs and bowls. In addition to clay, WREN offers paint & sips, fabric arts, geneology, cooking, soap making, and stained glass classes and more. Like I said, we can't find the time to do it all, but we're trying! WREN is always full of creative people to network and collaborate with. You need to check it out!
