Playa de La Fustera

Reviewed By bri_bri012 - Ipswich, United Kingdom

La Fustera is a small beach which is well presented and has a local wine bar that does great cocktails adjacent. The sand is not sand castle material and quite coarse but clean and pleasant underfoot. Small kayak and paddle board outlet at reasonable prices (1hour for 2 people 30euro). Quite a bit of loose seaweed washing up on left of the beach and some cobbles and rocks as you get into deeper water. Beach has good lifeguard presence. It doesn’t have inflatables or ice cream for sale so take your own provisions, unless you retire to the Mandala beach bar. For us the best thing about the beach was that it had an intriguing coastal path that led in both directions up hills which we explored. Facing the sea you can go right (to Calpe) which is a 40 min walk to great for hiking/walkers as some parts are challenging and probably not for flip flops. You can also go left and just over the brow of the hill you see why, there is a very small rocky beach with a few bathers. This is not a sandy beach and could be a challenge for some. We took 6 teenagers/young adults and 3 active over 50’s and had a whale of a time. The see is rocky (smooth rocks) and has rock platforms you can carefully climb onto and so much to see in terms of fish and anemones etc. Take your swim goggles or snorkels and enjoy fish and octopus spotting....superb fun for those with adventure . We found this middle of our week and went back twice for two good sessions of snorkelling. Waves on this beach are smaller than the main beach and the current seems much smoother. Well worth a visit.
