The Church of Sant Pere (St. Peter), known by everyone as the Chapel of Crist de la Mar, stands beside the Port. Indeed, legend tells us that in 1650 a felucca arrived on the beaches of Benicarló from which César Cataldo disembarked, carrying with him an image of Christ on the Cross. His arrival was deemed to be prodigal and the miracles performed by the sainted image even more so.
