Located on the east coast of Belize at the mouth of the Belize River, Belize City sits on a peninsula jutting into the Caribbean Sea. As the nation's main port, the city is a hub for cruise ships and is often a jumping-off spot for excursions to other parts of Belize, including the Cayo District's caves and Maya archaeological sites along the Macal and Belize rivers. Belize City boasts the only manual swing bridge in the world and the oldest Anglican cathedral in Central America.

The owner of our lodge in Belize arranged this half day cave tubing. Our guide was Dione, and it was only myself, my husband and our 24 year old daugher on this cave tubing trip. It was a lot of fun, we saw some beautiful cave formations and enjoyed the opportunity to cool down in the river. At some points it was pretty shallow (lift your butt) but as Dione promised he got us through. Dione was a great guide, and made the whole experience a lot of fun. We had lunch afterwards on site, and the food was very good - try the ceviche.

We were on a cruise when we came to Belize. Rent your own car and drive here! The car rental is right next to the cruise dock. It’s a super easy drive here. You can hire a tour guide here for a small amount and they can give you some history. It’s nice that you can walk all around and see everything. I did see a lady fall down the stairs at the top of one of the ruins. There are some vendors with things for sale outside that can be aggressive.

This is the oldest Anglican Church in Central America.
Very good guided tour by the volunteer docent. Well worth the donation charge to learn some of the history of this old church.

Opening Hours Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Closed to the public
Amazed at the room that up to 6 people would share. A great history lesson on the slaves and the creole language. I always wondered why their accent sounded very close to a Jamaican patois.

My kids love adventure as such my wife and I try to provide some adventure for them as much as time permits us. They have been to Old Belize natural swimming pool for many times and all the times my response to slide was NO! Well, this time around my other kids were climbing and sliding and my kids were looking at me as the most unreasonable Dad in the world. So, I gave in. They went up and slid a couple of times with great excitement. Then they can and said, "Dad you should try." Hell NO! I wasn't going up that thing and kill myself in the process. After much persuasion, I gave it a trial. Men, it was like falling from heaven and when I hit the water? It was a great splash and I went in. Truly to my my kids words, It was a great experience but not for an old man like me. They can keep going at it but for me, no thanks.

There is a great Belize sign inside the cruise terminal perfect for pictures. It is next to swings and a bar/restaurant. It is nice each city and small country in the Caribbean and beyond is doing this. You can get a collection of pics by each port you visit!

My friends and I were staying in San Pedro for a few days. We took this ferry with all of our luggage, and made it San Pedro in time to check in to our hotel and do the other activities we had planned for the day. The workers were very nice. Only complaint: I didn’t know we were stopping in Caye Caulker first. This made our trip to San Pedro 2 hours! All in all, we left on time and got there in one piece!

We didn’t book a shore excursion from our Carnival Miracle Cruise ship. So when we got into Port I asked a lady tour guide ( you know the one that holds up a sign at debarkation) if there is place to go to the beach & she said yes. We got on a thatch roof van & took a tour around Belize then came to this water park. I was confused about the beach part cuz the beach is not really accessible because of rocks. But we had a great day here. I don’t know why this place gets bad reviews cuz I loved it. I swam a bit in man made lake. My teens went down the water slide & swam & ate at the restaurant. I sat directly in front of the DJ & drank very good strong margaritas while sitting in the shade undera coconut tree.there were plenty of chairs to sit in. The bathroom was decent & changing rooms clean. The staff constantly walks around cleaning up trash. Don’t waste your time on expensive cruise excursions. Taxi here is $15 & entrance cost is $10. I definitely would come back here. It’s exactly what I wanted to do here.
