Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

BAPBAP shacks up in the 11th district of Paris to brew 100% Parisian beers. The goal of that young microbrewery is to have the whole beer-making process in the French capital to share its love for the craft and expertise with all Paris-born, Paris-dwelling and Paris-loving denizens.

This disused railway line in the 12th arrondissement has been turned into a 4.5 km long tree-lined path meandering through buildings and providing a green oasis. It is difficult to find the start at the Jardin Charles Peguy end as this is at street level and there are some dingy tunnels to make your way through. We caught the Metro and got off at Porte Doree and wandered along several streets till we asked a local to pint us in the right direction. Once on the pathway, you can walk at your own pace and it ends at the Viaduc des Arts (opposite the Gare de Lyon train station). Well worth an afternoon visit

My advice would be to buy a bit of everything - such affordable, high quality food! We bought a lot of french food: baguette, hot crepes, kouign amann, cheese, cured meat, rotisserie chicken, fresh fruit; and also some turkish style pastries and portuguese custard tarts. I'd say it was some of the best food we've had (in each of those categories). I'd happily go back again next time I'm in Paris.

Quite possibly the highlight of my 4 days in Paris. To be surrounded by the colors, the movement, the art of VanGogh and the accompanying music that ranged from the classical to Nina Simone to Janis Joplin was a beautiful experience. When people ask what I loved about Paris, Atelier Lumieres is what I rave about. Bravo.

This majestic monument is the focal point of the square of the same name, a proud bronze statue of Marianne (the personification of France), stands atop the marble plinth, at the base there is twelve bas-reliefs depicting important moments of the Republic in the hundred years after the Revolution. Now-a-days, this is an important place for celebrations and rallies, (recently the train strike).
