Queen Rose Hiking Trail

Pieter and Jackie were amazing. We recieved all the information needed, directions and were offered walking sticks and a 2-way radio to ease communication along the route. The hut was well kept and all necessary utensils present. We chose slackpacking which was indeed a great idea especially since the first day hike was along the Montrose river and challenging, we enjoyed every minute. We were provided with braai wood and paid close to nothing. We definitely coming back as there are no words to describe this trail and the hospitality from the hosts. There is also a Bushcamp coming up which was under renovation or being build plus an upcoming picnic spot. Pieter did mention that soon they will be ready. I found my place of peace and indeed a Stress-free environment. The waterfalls, natural pools to cool off, the streams, bush, mountain views and vegetation, everything is amazing. The hut is also equipped with Solar lights etc, and there is geyser which provides hot water. Its amazing. During our last day, we were informed that non-hikers can be transported to the huts too, that is a great thing to ensure families are included as the trail is not conducive for smaller children.

Barberton Makhonjwa Geotrail

If you are a Geography type person or just enjoy the epic beauty our planet has to offer its worth the trip. The road is in a fair to slighty crumbly unmaintained. I drive a polo sedan and it was fine but one needs to take caution of the steep climbs and decents and note the mist/fog moves in quickly. But having said that its still worth the trip for the day. The views are breath taking.
