The world's largest marine park, home to over 50,000 sea animals.
My sister and I absolutely loved the marine exhibits. It is clear that Atlantis truly cares about conservation of the local ecosystems through their coral farming, sea turtle rehabilitation, and manta ray release programs.

These trained dolphins are playful and friendly, specializing in giving visitors a ride on the "dolphin surf," where one of these gentle creatures pushes you through the water with their snout.
This is expensive but so worth it. How many opportunities does one get to cuddle and kiss dolphins and sea lions? A once in a lifetime adventure. The island is beautiful, our host Juliano was wonderful, Precious our dolphin trainer was great, and Goombay the dolphin, Jack and Charlotte the Sea Lions and Diamond the stingray were so much fun to interact with.

Aquaventure, Atlantis Paradise Island's water park, is a one-of-a-kind 141-acre waterscape with complimentary admission for overnight guests at Atlantis. This non-stop aquatic thrill ride features over twenty million gallons of water, incredible Atlantean-themed towers, thrilling high-speed water slides, a mile-long river ride with rolling rapids and wave surges, 20 swimming areas, a spectacular kids water-play fort and 11 unique and refreshing swimming pools. Aquaventure is connected by a lush, tropical environment that is both immersive and interconnected, and perfect for all vacationers, whether young and older. The water park offers an extreme level of excitement and delivers an "aqua" adventure unlike any other.
When planning our trip to the Atlantis resort we weren't sure what was open and what was closed. This review will reflect what was open at Aquaventure during our trip the week of March 20th 2021. Acquaventure water park - The water park was operating at a reduced capacity during our stay. You were always able to find plenty of seating through out the day. The Mayan Temple slides, (Serpent Slide, Challenger Slides, Jungle Slides and The Leap of Faith) were open four days a week (Sun, Mon, Wed, Fri) and the Power Tower slides (The Abyss, The Surge, The Drop and The Falls) and The Current (Rapids River surrounding the Power Tower) were open three days a week (Tues, Thur, Sat). The Splashers pool was open every day. The Baths Colonnade Pool, the pool complexes at the Coral and Beach towers were closed. We were able to use all beaches including the Cove Beach. Lines were minimal at all slides during our week. We had a great time each day at the water slide and other attractions. The lifeguards are fun and entertaining, the pool wait staff hustles and are eager to serve. We want to call out Don one of the pool wait staff! He saw me walking to get food and said what do you want and I’ll get it for you. I said, “we’re sitting way over there, over the river and through the woods” (there wasn’t a food location open where we were sitting) He said no problem! I’ll find you. I gave him our order and he tracked us down, literally over the rapids river and across the beach! He came back later and asked if we needed anything else and then found us the next day again. Use the pool wait staff. They are eager to serve and glad to be back working. Give them a little extra to support them and their family who have just experienced almost a year of no work. There were plenty of pools and attractions open during our stay to ensure the days were eventful. We had a great time at Aquaventure!

This island is best known for its huge Bluefin tuna: fishermen grab your rods!
The people are nothing but friendly and genuine. The seas are dreamy shades of turquoise. This is Paradise... This is a private island for members and their guests only. You can not rent a house or a room at the hotel if you are not. Guests must be approved 2 days prior to arrival. You can not rent or steal a golf cart to go drive around the island. There are signs telling you members only past this point. (The members enjoy privacy without tourists creeping around trying to figure out who lives where and take pictures and share to social media.) You can not use the beaches. You can not pull up a boat onto a beach or swim up and then walk through someone’s private property to enter the island. Trespassing (yes, this happens and then the people are found and directed to leave and then put on a banned list with customs) Members are also not allowed to pick up non-members they meet in town and drive them around like a tour guide. The member will face repercussions if caught and there are employee and member eyes everywhere and security cameras. You can pull into the marina only and when you call in, the dockmaster will instruct you on where you can dock and if you can stay. Most of the docks are owned individually by members. You can call ahead to make dock reservations if you need to stay overnight. There is a fuel dock. Here is what non-members can do: You can clear Bahamian customs with ease if it is not their lunch hour. There are public restrooms and laundry facilities but no showers. You can dine at Bu’s Bar the marina bar/restaurant. It was named for the member who funded its construction, Mr. Bu. You can also dine upstairs at Nauticat on the porch overlooking the marina or inside with air conditioning. Lunch is from 12-2 and dinner 6-9. You can shop at the grocery store which is quite large for a very small island. It does have the usual grocery staples plus fresh produce, frozen foods, ice bags, beer, wine, liquor, water, pet food, fishing supplies, some medicines and specialty items like cage-free eggs, gluten-free and organic items. Pretty much everything you can find in a US store just not all the brands. The store receives deliveries by ship once a week. You can also shop at the boutique for swimwear, T-shirts, golf shirts, resortwear, kids apparel and toys, home decor, shoes, jewelry, hats, bags and original artwork. They do have designer brands like Vix, Alice and Trixie, Elan, Southern Charm and more. If you’re looking for tropical, breezy clothing, it’s there. You may do these things but must also follow the club rules which also pertain to members. The main rules besides the ones mentioned above that would apply are: swimsuits must always be covered up at the marina docks, shops and restaurants. No loud music coming from your boat. As for the person who left the one negative review: I wonder if he/she was with the group who were rowdy, loud, stole the club president’s golf cart for a joy ride and after being told whose cart it was, replied “F*** him”, peeing off the dock next to restaurant tables, etc... all this in the presence of children. THIS kind of behavior was part of what changed the visitation ability for all non-members coming to the island. Now, if he/she was not with this group of people then, they were an unfortunate recipient of the new rules that real scum caused. Sorry. One bad apple spoils the bunch. I was there when it all happened. It was shameful behavior for any location, period! I’ve never seen or heard of anyone who was not being disrespectful or disruptive be spoken to in the manner described in the negative review. I think they were refused based on the new rules, took it personally and have left a sour-enhanced review after spending 30 min coming over from Bimini. You can radio ahead to the dockmaster to inquire about going to a restaurant. It is a privilege to be able to go to such a beautiful place. You can keep Bimini!! It’s dirty and dangerous. There was a shooting in town on a Friday night, the one time we were there for a few days. That was like 6 yrs ago and we never went back based on our first impression. There were piles of trash everywhere and I mean piles not a random cup here or there. I was afraid to walk my dog alone and that was before the shooting occurred. We were also semi-kidnapped by a cab driver. He locked the van doors and insisted on driving us by some townhouses or condos because “we should buy there”. He forced us on his “tour” before taking us where we wanted to go. I hear it’s only gotten worse. The casino is not doing well and even Guy Harvey pulled out. So, no thanks. There is zero crime on Cat Cay and there is a Bahamian police officer on island 24/7. (I’ve heard that the Biminians feel forgotten by the Bahamian government, so they just don’t care about their island. That’s a shame and a whole other topic...) Also, during busy seasonal times in 2018, members were not been able to get a single seat at the bar due to non-members hanging out all afternoon. Many tables were filled as well. Some of the members were not so thrilled to be spending $$$$$ to be a member and not be able to sit at the marina bar or tables for lunch because it had been taken over by large groups of non-members from Bimini. (And word spread about the obnoxious group) Now, non-members may check in to customs and shop at the stores but may be turned away from using the restaurant areas during holidays and the summer. It’s a private island yacht club. They are not obligated to serve the public EXCEPT for customs. If you tried to go eat at the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club and you’re not a member, you will be refused. Same for any country club. At least if you behave and it’s not busy, you can hang out and enjoy the marina/town area and the lovely people. Sip on a Cat Cay Special. Chat about the recent fishing catches, etc. Also, the automatic gratuity was raised to 20% for the restaurants. That is the same as on Bimini. Yes, I’m a member and extremely grateful for every day I spend on that beautiful island. Everyone feels like family. The employees and members alike. Every time we meet members for the first time, I find my self saying “they were sooo nice!” They truly are!! Yes, it’s wealthy people but they are laid back, next door kind of people NOT snobs trying to show off or see and be seen. I have made the most amazing friends there. Everyone makes sure the employees are taken care of. Many have planes (and boats) and give employees free rides between Cat & the US or other islands, so they can visit family and shop at Costco, etc. or they bring them supplies when they need them. I took diapers for a housekeeper’s grandkids, protein powder, a microwave, lots of flowers and candy at Valentine’s Day, etc. This is a special community in Paradise and visitors should treat it as such. If you’re thinking about becoming a member, I highly recommend it. It’s laid back. If you’re looking to show off your goods, then Bakers Bay may suit you better. It costs about 900% more to join...

Twelve-acre garden full of tropical plants and animals: one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island.
I visited the gardens today and spent 3 hours there. The place is spectacular! Sit down , relax and watch the birds and butterflies, visit the chapel, meditate on a bench in the serenity of flowing water and lush vegetation or sit by the pond and watch the turtles, fish and ducklings glide through the water. There is even a really cute outdoor cafe that serves up great tasting meals and cool beverages. My stress melted away in a few short hours. Thoroughly enjoyed!!!
