Auli stay was like staying in heaven. Not to miss the gorson Trek from auli. it’s a fun Trek with meadows on top of the mountain. For the gorson Trek, we did the chair cable first then we did the trek. The trek is about 3 km , with gentle slopes to Trek in the open meadows , through the alpine forest , passing the cows grazing n horses grazing, passing the bells tingling around the cows neck, little ponds on the way, a little temple n finally reaching on top to the open meadows. It was like Switzerland n truly beautiful. On top , saw the clouds coming in and you feel like your walking on the clouds. Beautiful weather, cool n windy. Sometimes sunny sometimes cloudy. Glad we didn’t get the rains. Passed by mountain goats n mountain dogs. Saw vultures on top of the mountain feeding on cow carcass. Heard the loud neighs of the horses. Just a wonderful must do trek to enjoy beauty all around.

Its worth the effort to climb up about 5 kilometers from Ringi, which is about an hour drive from Joshimath, towards Niti and Malari. The village is so pretty that you cant have enough of it. It is recommended that you plan to stay in the Village Subhai for the night. The village has many clean home stays. You can stay with Jaydeep (Mobile : 9627979546) his home is very clean, with wonderful food and loving people. This must be a one night 2 day trip. For those who like hiking and trekking - this is great. Panorama of Nanda Devi is spectacular. WE did the trip towards end of December 2018 - hence it was snowed in. We loved the whole trip.

On 19th March , 2020 , I wanted to visit Vriddha Badri from Blue Poppy Resort , Auli . Any other driver would have taken me to the entrance of the Vriddha Badri mandir ( 1380 m ) at Animath village , 7 km from Joshimath on Auli Rd , Joshimath Army Area , from which I had to ascend to the mandir and descend to the parking place . But my driver , Rai Singh took me to a point on the road and told me to descend to reach the mandir and then further descend to a point where he would pick me up . Looking to my age he guided me to a way where I had not to climb . In the Vriddha Badri mandir the idol of Lord Vishnu looks like as an old man . It is believed that Naradji did his penance to please Lord Vishnu . Pleased with the penance of Narada , He appeared as an old man and blessed Narada . Hence the name of this mandir is Vriddha ( old ) Badri ( Lord Vishnu aka Badrinath ) . Timings : 0600 to 1800
