The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette is a destination for pilgrims any time of year, but between Thanksgiving and the New Year, the shrine dazzles with 500,000 Christmas lights celebrating the birth of the Christ child. The display is provided for a free-will donation - so, there is no formal fee, and a visit here makes for a great family outing.
The lights are distributed over ten acres, and there is a massive amount of parking space. No admission fee (but loosen your purse strings and leave a donation); and pets were in evidence. They may or may not be allowed - not sure. There are several places to buy snacks. I tried a slice of the Canadian meat pie in the cafeteria (the line moves fast), and loved it. They also had wonderful desserts and hot chocolate.
The place is crowded, so expect congestion, whining kids, and visitors who are generally very nice and very patient. On weekends at 7 pm, I recommend Fr. Pat's concert of faith-based songs and carols. Fr. Pat accompanies himself on the guitar.
Bring the family, and Enjoy!

Love this park! There is so much to do. Lots of areas for walks, a small zoo, two play ground areas, a sand play area and the most amazing slide that every kid dreams of. Easy to park at and lots of tables for picnic lunches. Also the garden with the water butterfly is so much fun for the little kids.

A popular baseball field (home of the Pawtucket Red Sox) for minor-league games that draws a huge crowd.
I have been coming here for years and years. It is a great place for watching AAA Baseball . It is much better in many ways than seeing MLB first hand. The prices for everything are drastically cheaper, less crowds, better parking-free if you get there early, including handicapped and easier traffic.
I would recommend going to MLB at least once in a lifetime though. Many stars come from AAA. The players usually like giving autographs.
Lastly, McCoy has events sometimes, like walking the field, fireworks and more.

My wife and I learned about this bookstore from a recent New York Times national "best of" article on independent bookstores. Gorgeous restored wooden building. Ample parking nearby. The place was packed with enthusiastic patrons, of all ages, two days after Christmas. It was *much* smaller than we expected, but within those constraints, the selection was wide-ranging and creatively displayed. What stood out most was overhearing a staff member, at a parent's request, ask an elementary-school-aged girl what sort of books she was interested in, and then the staff member knowledgeably, patiently, and eagerly providing the girl with an array of options, as her expression slowly changed from one of annoyed skepticism to surprised gratitude. That is what an independent bookstore is all about!

Wrentham Village Premium Outlets is more than just a great collection of the finest designer labels and brands, it's New England's largest outlet center. Include a shopping stop during your next trip to Boston. Located 35 minutes south of Boston, it's a true bargain hunter's haven.Daily transportation from downtown Boston hotels provides easy access to the center. Many visitors also chose to purchase one of the popular Shop & Stay packages featured on the center's website.
Love the concept of this outlet. Great variety of stores to shop. Some high end stores mixed in with some average stores make it so great!

This is wonderful place to see a concert. The acoustics are top notch, even 30 years later!
The parking is smooth, the layout is smooth. There are many bathrooms and plenty of food options. They keep the restrooms clean. The staff is very helpful.
Getting through security is fairly easy and you never feel like your standing around. Seats are set up so everyone can see, and big screens for those to the far back.
I recommend this place and love it!

Free park playground and picnic areas surrounding the zoo; great for younger children. "Splashpad Playspace" (water playground) located in the zoo during the summer.
Lions are just the beginning. All sorts of animals, food, information, and playgrounds. If you have kids, it's a great place to bring the kids on the cheap and spend lots of time looking at all the animals!

This is a Simon Mall so very bright and clean looking. 3 levels of shopping with lots of natural lighting. We didn't stay long but we found a few stores that interested us and a place to have a snack at the food court.

Bog Iron Brewing is one of my favorite breweries in New England. I have been there at least 5 times and have not been disappointed. They make great IPAs and Stouts. Most are available on draft with a few that are bottle only. The staff is friendly and fun. The bar mix snacks are appreciated! I have visited 172 breweries to date and this one is near the top of the list.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside are 40 lanes of modern bowling - automatic scoring, retractable gutter bumpers for the little kids, cosmic bowling option on weekends. They have fairly good food - oven-baked pizza, a full-liquor bar with lots of seating (for eating or drinking) and several (6?) wide screen TVs. They do bowling specials/packages all the time, they have a night-club like cosmic bowl on Friday & Sat nights. We did a 5 year old's bday party there and had 5 kids bowl on 1 lane, pizza & drinks for the kids & their parents all for $55 - a great deal! They also have an arcade/game room that is good, but not great. It is simply too small with about 15 or so games.
