My wife and I decided to spend the weekend for our Anniversary in Palestine to ride the Texas State Railroad and were looking for a spa day to complete our weekend. On short notice (2 days), Chantal was able to pull together a couple's massage, pedicure and recommendation for dinner for services on Saturday. Not an easy task to accomplish on short notice, but she worked her magic and delighted us. The experience was absolutely amazing and the service they provided was second to none. My wife and I truly enjoyed our experience and would recommend anyone in the area to give them a call for an amazing experience.

Wanted to go on a day trip since we were both off. So the day after Christmas we headed here to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. We have been here several times but it had been a while. I never get tired of seeing this place. If you like to fish this is a must see. There are several reasons why I love it here: 1. The fishing history is impressive, like a museum. 2. You get to feed fish ( my wife's favorite thing to do) 3. The aquariums are loaded with all sizes of Freshwater fish, 4. The staff here is amazing from the ticket booth to the gift shop, you will never find more helpful or friendly folks. 5. You can fish! Wether you are an adult or kid you can fish in their well stocked ponds. Bass, catfish, trout, perch, big and small, all sizes. They provide everything, all you got to do is give it a try. I can not tell you what a great experience you could be missing! So I very highly recommend this place for a visit!

One hundred acres of wooded beauty, trees, flowers, and wildlife await your discovery at the East Texas Arboretum. The forest appears to come alive as you meander along two miles of woodland trails. Camouflaged frogs, insects, and even deer often scurry away as you pass. Make your way along winding, spring-fed streams connected by a 115-foot suspension bridge. Experience life in early Henderson County at the historic Wofford House Museum. Built in 1850, the home was relocated to the arboretum several years ago. It now stands as a reminder of early pioneer days complete with period furnishings, memorabilia, and a seasonal garden. The arboretum is available to host reunions, meetings, retreats, weddings, receptions, and picnics. Just imagine how beautiful a bride is when framed in the arbors of spring! Come join us for a walk in the park.
We came here a few months ago, and I thoroughly enjoyed hiking the trails at the arboretum. The nature, plants, and ecosystems present here are absolutely beautiful to see, and coming to the East Texas Arboretum is a great way to enjoy nature and spend time with loved ones. The trails are practically endless, and you can spend as little as ten minutes or as long as an entire afternoon hiking all of the trails. The suspension bridge was amazing to walk across, and I loved the experience of being alone with nature. I would reccomend this arboretum to anyone who enjoys nature, hiking, or exploring, as it is a wonderful place to visit.

Approximately five miles east of Athens, the 1,799 acre lake offers a variety of water sport activities for outdoor enthusiasts. While catfish, crappie, white bass and sunfish are found in Lake Athens, it is best known for largemouth bass. Lake Athens Marina provides the only public access to the lake as well as fishing supplies, pier fishing, restaurant, picnic area, an RV park and restrooms. Open daily at 7 a.m.

A craft brewery right in the heart of downtown Athens! Built in a historic building right on the square, we've got around 8 beers on tap at any given time, with new brews and seasonals spicing up the selection! Live music on our breezy outdoor patio every Friday & Saturday night, and trivia on Thursday nights. We have a restaurant with delicious eats and specials. We are kid and family friendly, and there is a selection of games and puzzles upstairs for everyone to enjoy. Got a dog? Bring the pooch! We love our well-behaved and leashed guests! We stopped by after a hike at the nearby arboretum. Bartender was friendly and we enjoyed sitting at the bar. Enjoyed the apricot beer and the Tits on the Bull classic. Food was timely and yummy - spring rolls, blue cheese burger, and ABC melt. Only suggestion is a bit more light - bit of a black hole in sunny afternoons.
