Experience the landscape of East Galway and learn how it has been shaped by thousands of years of farming. We will walk the patchwork quilt of fields surrounded by stone walls that have stood untouched for hundreds of years.
We headed off for our second year of pumpkin picking wiht the Friendly Farmer. It was great. The weather was perfect, the turkeys were gobbling and the pumpkins were ripe for picking! We went with our family and cousins to the pumpkin patch, afterwards we had hot chocolate, visited the pigs and turkeys. It is a great way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommend.

We decided to go for the full experience which was amazingly good value and not that expensive. Everyone had fun getting dressed up in period costumes. Knights, Executioner and Lady-in-waiting, etc. It was a fun and engaging way to learn about the medieval history of Athenry. Our guides were very knowledgeable and provided lots of information, both horrible and humorous. To finish off the visit we tried our hand at Archery, which even our 9 year daughter enjoyed. It definitely worth making the trip to Athenry just to do this.

This is an amazing piece of history in a great little town, and so accessible. We just came across this place as we were walking around Athenry after an evening meal. We were able to get up close to the building (in serious disrepair) and view and read the headstones around the grounds. Amazing history all around.............
