Umikami Industry Festival takes place in Asahi city, which is Chiba's best vegetable producing region. The festival is held every year in late November at various locations, including Umikami Community Sports Park. It is designed to encourage interaction and mutual understanding between producers and consumers and between the retail and agricultural industries. A huge number of teams, primarily composed of producers, set out stalls to promote and sell agricultural, marine, and commercial products from Asahi city. On the day of the festival, there is a host of events, including musical performances on stage, potato digging, rice cake throwing, and an earthquake simulation vehicle. There are also vegetable treasure ships, made from seasonal vegetables, on display and for sale.
