Being a sensitive region, one needs an inner line permit to visit Sela Pass. We have passed thru’ this area twice, while entering & leaving Tawang town. The zig-zag kaccha rocky pass with lot of pin bends appeared scary at certain points. This is much more than a usual monastery visit as this is a living, working miniature town within a town. The main hall can be visited on two levels and on a sunny day has enough light inside for good photography. The view of the town and snow-topped mountains is spectacular from here.

The lake has been surrounded by wonderfully lush valleys, and snow-capped mountains. A leisure walk is the best way to explore the picturesque surroundings of the lake Tawang is a town in Arunanchal Pradesh, profusely bestowed with pristine nature and a vibrant ethnicity. Best time to visit Tawang is between March and October and for season-wise details of the town, you must read further. One of the remotest pools of the nation and maybe of the world also, Sangetsar or Madhuri Lake is a stunning blend of rough mountains and an ever-show lake whose excellence is past hypnotizing. The lake was shown up in the Bollywood motion picture Koyla and is otherwise called Madhuri Lake named after the lead performing artist in the motion picture. The Madhuri Lake situated at an elevation of 12000 ft above ocean level only 30 km north-east of Tawang, is an incredible sight, tucked between tremendous mountains in the core of the Himalayas with numerous upright tree trunks remaining in its paunch as though guarding the lake

I was blessed to have had the opportunity to celebrate my most auspicious day of birth amongst the chanting of lamas in their prayer hall under the Buddha’s glorious blessed feet. The Monastery celebrates it’s annual Mask Dance festival, and the colour of demons with dramatic musical background score – is once in a lifetime experience, not to be missed.
