What a surprise package this little place is. Park your bike or your dog outside and treat yourself to a half hour here. It is a little tardis of a place with lots of local information and exhibits as well as an informative video on the history of the area, Skye and the Small Isles. As walkers we bought a useful walking guide to the Arisaig area and the little shop has a number of surprisingly useful guides and gifts. Well done to all the local volunteers who staff this gem. We popped in to collect the ferry timetables for our trip to Canna but found so much more than that!

St Mary’s Arisaig dates from 1849. The Rev. William McIntosh was determined to make a statement in stone and built high from a low site. Inside St Mary’s the impression of height is still more powerful, with lancet windows above eight-foot wood panelling, an organ gallery in the tower, and - most striking of all - a very tall triplet window behind the altar.

We had a fantastic family day out riding the beautiful ponies. Shelagh and the girls were fantastic. They took great care of the inexperienced riders and everyone chatted and laughed all the way. We walked along the road to reach the beautiful Silver sands. The horses were all very well behaved and happily took us along the beach to take in the fantastic scenery. We stopped along the way for a few photos too. It was so great to get out and do something fun. We’ll definitely be back in the Summer!

We visited this beach most days to walk our dog while in Arisaig and it was stunning, early in the morning as the sun came up, later in the evening with the sun setting, tide in or out, there was something different every time we went there and mostly had the beach to ourselves. My new favourite place!
