Romance is the lifeblood of Annecy, a town in the Rhone-Alpes region of southeast France that’s replete with castles and cathedrals and softly curving architecture. Stroll hand in hand with your paramour across Pont des Amours (the lover’s bridge) before taking in the Imperial Palace and the baroque Cathedral of Saint-Pierre. A walk down the Rue Royale will be rewarded with prime shopping, dining and people-watching, especially at the fountain of Saint Jean.

With one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, this is worth a relaxing stop for 2-3 days to amble along the lakeshore, take a boat excursion on the glacial-fed turquoise lake, hike or cycle, try some delicious raclette and make sure to wander beside the canals of the old town at night with glowing lanterns. Wonderful.

We parked the car at the beginning of the trail. It is possible to drive to the restaurant le Chalet de l’Aulp where the trail begins. You have to be in good condition if you take the steep route. When you reach the shepherds shelter, the route will split left and to the right. We went left. It was a steep climb at 2/3 of this route but manageable if you are in shape and are a experienced hiker. Bring water, food and wear hiking boots or shoes with a good grip cause you’ll need it. It took 2,5/3 hours to get to the top en less than 2 to get down. We celebrated with a gigantic lunch at the restaurant Le Chalet de l’Aulp. 2x 3-course lunch with 2 cokes and 2 beers. Paid around €50. Highly recommend it!

We took bus number S2 which is right outside Annecy Gare/Station. One hour journey by bus and it was full of snow.We enjoyed above and there were lots of other families enjoying their Skiing. Remember to cover up well with snow boots and hand gloves. Clean toilets available.

«Pont des amours» (loves bridge) From this bridge you can make amazing picture of «lac d’Annecy». Not only this bridge but the lake of Annecy is a romantic place in every season! You can have a picnic in the park. Rent a boat. Swim in the crystal clear lake. A nice walk around the water.. a hot wine (vin chaud) on this romantic bridge, while watching the view... I come often because I don’t live that far away.

An ancient city, sited on the shore of the beautiful lake Annecy, called the Venice of the Alps, intricately laced with a canal network, weaving between masses of historic buildings. Lots of restaurants, craft shops, galleries and food emporia are a magnet for visitors, when the market is on, the place can be heaving. On a wet mid week afternoon we pretty much had the place to ourselves (relatively), shame about the rain but it didn’t stop us bumbling about and exploring Definitely worth a visit

We rented our bike from Annecy then we went direct South-West you can check the pic that is attached to the review. We thought we'd do an hour and then the ride was so beautiful that we decided to continue all the way. We stopped just before Talloires town and had lunch there on a beautiful place by the lake called "Bistrot du Ponton". The ride is 42km in total from and to Annecy. It took us around 6 hours to do it in total (taking pics + lunch + enjoying). There is a part just after Talloires town that is very difficult and we had to walk with our bikes (we were not able to bike it). I have highlighted this place in black. Long story short, the ride is most beautiful on the west side of the lake - not extremely pretty from the east side (so if you're short on time and not willing to get tired, stick to the west side of the lake), andif you'd like a little adventure and have some time to spare go ahead and do the full tour but expect to be tired if you're an intermediate biker!

What a wonderful park located between the old city and the lake of Annecy. Many plants, seating options as well as various sculptures - outstanding! Is this a helpful review? Then please give me a "Thumbs up Thank FrankGeisler" by clicking the button below.

Worth a visit inside although it can seem that your visit will be short. The Palais expands with old cells and a small courtyard at its heart (you cannot work out where it is from outside - hence the reference to the 'Tardis'). It does suffer from the French habit of putting exhibitions about the development of the modern city and its economy but has enough of the old school charm to survive an often repetitious review of the architectural development of Annecy.

A 12th-century tower offers spectacular views of the Alps. A museum within the complex has a collection of Alpine-related furnishings and fine artwork.
Interesting castle doubled up as a museum. Entrance fee is just 5.50 euro. I think it’s a really good price since you have a gorgeous panoramic views from the castle and also there are a few expo that’s very educational. I like the effort they made it really family friendly by adding some small kids corner to keep everyone entertained while learning about the exhibitions around the area. You learn everything from the way of life in the past, freshwater fishes of Annecy region, amazing centuries old paintings, and more. Definitely worth the time to stop by while you’re in Annecy.
