Anacortes /ˌænəˈkɔːrtəs/ is a city in Skagit County, Washington, United States. The name "Anacortes" is an adaptation of the name of Anne Curtis Bowman, who was the wife of early Fidalgo Island settler Amos Bowman. Anacortes' population was 15,778 at the time of the 2010 census. It is one of two principal cities of and included in the Mount Vernon-Anacortes Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Everything about this place is wonderful. Each staff person is knowledgeable and they truly put the care of the animals first. And we had an amazing experience and interaction with wildlife! I got kisses from two different wolves! One did grab the back of my jacket to play. He easily could have pulled me down. We were warned about this and I was ready even though it still scared me. Completely loved every moment and would do it again!!! And bring family and friends.

You need to drive up to the highest point on Fidalgo Island. You drive up the winding road through the wilderness with many trails to the top of Mt Erie where you come to the out look to see the San Juan Islands. Beautiful!!

We’ve been coming to Anacortes for years to get to our boat. It wasn’t until a recent crummy weather weekend that we started poking around Anacortes beyond Commercial Street and the old downtown. Wow! A few nice but short trails and incredible views. The very tip top is rocky and during our last visit some model R/C monster truck folks were putting their vehicles thru their paces. What fun! Weather permitting you can see Mt Baker, the San Juan’s, etc. The views are just outstanding. A great place to chill (sometimes literally) and unwind.

Love this park and what it offers. There is a play ground, beach, day use pavilions, restrooms, boat launch, tow vehicle with boat trailer parking, campground and a loop that offers lots of options for hiking, biking and walking. The restrooms aren't top of the line facilities but they are good enough for me and keeps me coming back. We come out as much as we can to walk around the loop or access the beaches that are available in the loop. We're hoping to get out there more for camping.

We have been in Anacortes for 3 weeks and have been on the trail a number of times, walking, and once biking. The trail is well maintained, has clean public restrooms, and winds its way along bays, through boat yards, and past businesses. There are plenty of access points with parking. Love, Love, Love it!

Visited this location several times in the last few months and many times over the years and never a waste of time. In my July '17 visits was for picture taking on Rosario Head and to evaluate the hiking path for my wife. For the most part, this is a great place to hike and the challenge is minimal, some up and down hills and uneven areas. Once there the view of Whidbey Island, the Olympics and the San Juan Islands is outstanding. Not on these trips, but I have viewed and photographed Orcas from this viewpoint. This is a full feature State Parke and requires a fee, $10 or a year $30 discover pass, recommended, or a handicapped placard is free. The beach is great along with the picnic facilities and the restrooms.

The ferry is very comfortable but depending on how on time they are determines what you can do. We took ferry to San Juan island and the ferry was an hour late leaving and so when we got to the island we had time to get lunch and get back on another ferry to go back to Anacortes. If we had known the schedule was more a suggestion we would have planned our time accordingly!
