This is a great museum and worth the time if you like camping or riding motor cycles. You get to step in almost every RV. The way they are displayed is like you walked into a camp ground. It has a wide variety of camper eras represented. Would love to come again.

The development of the American Quarter Horse from colonial times to present day is traced through interactive exhibits, dramatic video presentations and live demonstrations.
We went to the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum. We loved it as we have relatives who are very much into horses. There are nice statues in front of the museum. Inside the museum there is the Hall of Fame on the first...MoreThank you for visiting the museum and for your great feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed the timeline exhibits and the art. We hope you will be able to visit again soon!

The place is beautiful and well kept, but unfortunately almost all plants are without any description as in other similar gardens. It is a shame because you can only then enjoy the plants and the flowers withou knowing their common and scientific name. This is the reason I give a law rate.

This offbeat roadside attraction features 10 graffiti-covered Cadillacs standing upright in a row, buried nose-first in the ground. The sculpture is the brainchild of Amarillo millionaire Stanley Marsh III, who chose classics dating from 1948 to 1963, the "Golden Age" of the American automobile.
An ever changing piece of International artwork. People from all over the word have spray painted on these cars. It is located just outside Amarillo Texas. The paint on these cars must be an inch thick. There is every type of graffiti know to man on these Caddys. A must see.

It is designed with acoustical excellence in mind and serves as a landmark in downtown Amarillo. It is equipped with a one-of-a-kind orchestra shell that retracts into an upstage garage area to reveal a fully equipped road house. Featuring a sprung dance floor, hydraulic orchestra pit, and complete fly system, the Globe-News Center is equipped to host the smallest meeting to the largest road show.
Good production, especially for a small, local company. The venue is beautiful, and they are very proud that they own all of the equipment - they had just installed the new follow spots before this show and people were excited to see them deployed. Good sight lines, and very architecturally interesting - just a really nice, small venue.

In addition to our commitments, the mission of Don Harrington Discovery Center is to spark curiosity, inspire lifelong learning, and bring families and communities closer together.
I was caught off guard at how small this museum actually was, but we were fortunate to visit on a very quiet day, so there were no issues with using various exhibits. I had my children with me aging from 2 1/2-10 and they were all able to find activities to do, although admittedly there were fewer activities for my preschooler than I would have preferred. The Kinderstudio was a bit of a let down; there wasn't much for my littler ones to actually DO. Overall, the museum was clean and well kept and the staff was exceptionally friendly. There is no food here or a dining area, but there are concessions sold at the theater, and they had no problems with us eating our snacks during one of the movies. There is also a lovely park right outside of the museum that you could bring a picnic lunch to.

This mile-long stretch of road originally belonging to Route 66, now features shops, clubs and restaurants. Favorites include the Nat Ballroom, currently an antiques store, but a former stop for the Big Bands that passed through Amarillo, and the Golden Light Café, where the best hamburgers in town have been served for more than 50 years.
This mile-long historic district for Route 66 is located at 6th Avenue. The street features locally owned stores many converted from a mix of previously residential homes, motels and entertainment buildings. Visitors can window shop or purchase antiques, memorabilia, souvenirs and enjoy a meal or drinks at the restaurants and bars. The oldest being the Golden Light Café still serving great hamburgers which started trading way back in 1946.

While this is not a huge, large fancy facility, I would call it "real." The aircraft and objects you see are the real thing. Too many museum exhibits are just posters stuck on walls. Not only are you shown aircraft and objects, you are allowed inside of them, and the guides have personal knowledge and experience. This is a contribution based museum, and they strive to preserve and important part of our history which directly affects us today.

Fabulous collection of classic cars...most situated in 2 large buildings but a few Caddys, Fords and Pontiacs outdoors. Cars inside were in immaculate condition and Casey’s insightful comments added to the basic info on windshield sticker. The 90 minute tour well worth the 2 hour drive to get here.

The Amarillo Zoo is very small, but always a fun experience for our Grandchildren. Nice walking paths, play areas, and a good variety of animals. The staff are always friendly and keep the zoo clean and safe. Their holiday events are always our favorite.
