Hidden River Golf and Casting Club

My husband and I had a great time at Hidden River. We played two rounds of golf on this beautiful, picturesque course which was challenging but doable. We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the food was spectacular. Some of our favorites were: the Parmesan crusted whitefish, the prime rib and Turkey burger. Also try the fried pickles and the smoked whitefish dip as appetizers. We were there for "Music on the Maple River" which was so much fun listening to a local musician playing on the deck overlooking the river. We stayed in the cabin on the grounds which sleeps four easily and was so comfortable. Again the views are beautiful. Overall this experience was five star for us. Would come back anytime!

Recreation area offers downhill and cross-country skiing, 246 acres on 43 slopes and runs up to almost a mile in length.

This is my favorite place to ski in Michigan. The chairs are a bit dated, but this place knows skiing as much as any place anywhere. The lift operators are mostly friendly which is sometimes hard to find, and the ski shop is outstanding. I love Nubs Nob. I've gone twice in the past 2 years, and had so much fun on my skis. It ALMOST makes you think it's a waste to go out West. A high speed lift at this place could get so many runs in!

What a nice stop. Beautiful area with plenty of parking, a museum (nuns), and we were able to attend mass (Saturday, 4:30).

Little Traverse Wheelway

I love this bike path. It follows along Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan and you often have great water views. In Petoskey there are convenient parks and opportunities to refill water bottles or picnic. I have biked it from Charlevoix to Petoskey downtown, past Bay View, and to the Petoskey State Park, where there is a great beach to walk. Nice biking. Some hills.

The train outside the facility looks weathered but inside is air conditioning and much historical information. The information building also has a lot of learning items for children and adults alike. The underground viewing area is great. What child doesn't like feeding the fish / ducks?

Riverboat Tours

We are very excited to take you on a tour of Crooked River. Crooked River is part of Michigan’s historical Inland Waterway connecting Crooked Lake to Burt Lake. Our trip begins between the two lakes in the charming town of Alanson, MI. The river twists and turns with fabulous views the whole way. We will glide past many wonderful cottages and homes along the banks of the river as well as many uninhabited natural areas. We never know what wildlife might pop out to say hello. We might see Eagles, osprey, swans, geese, beaver and deer.

A wonderful tour of a section of the beautiful and historic inland waterway. The pontoon boat is large and comfortable with shaded seating and restroom facilities. Much of the scenery is in rather remote areas that can only be accessed by boat. Reservations recommended. Pick a nice day and spend several hours enjoying this unique tour.

Petoskey State Park

Reviewed By seecrane - East Lansing, Michigan

We camped here for three nights in mid-September, at the Tannery Creek campground. I'd always camped at the Dunes campground before, but it was closed for the season. Still close to the beach. The campground was very uncrowded while we were there. Good thing, because we'd reserved a site online and the previous occupants hadn't bothered to vacate it. Thankfully the site next door was available. Nicely maintained park. Helpful staff. Can't speak for restrooms; didn't use the ones at the campground. Really nice beach: wide and sandy at the day use area, more wild and secluded near the campgrounds. Great rock hunting.

Crooked Vine Vineyard & Winery

Reviewed By ShellyandDavid M - Grand Haven, Michigan

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Crooked Tree Vineyard & Winery. Geoff, the owner, did an exceptional job educating us about the wines during the tasting. Afterward, we purchased a glass and sat out on the covered porch. The tasting room is situated on the hill with beautiful lake views. The winery is on the Bayview Wine Trail and not too far off the beaten path. We found several wines to take home with us and the prices were very reasonable. We had purchased the Bayview Trail Wine Passport for $59 and that covers two tastings at each of the nine wineries and 10% of any wine purchases. Highly recommended for wine enthusiasts. And the passport is good for a full year.

Maple Moon Sugarbush and Winery

Located on 80 beautiful acres in Petoskey, Michigan, Maple Moon Sugarbush and Winery offers a little slice of heaven for its visitors. Maple Moon is a wonderful addition to the Petoskey area. Family owned, the maple trees and facility are open for tours and the Peterson's are delightful and welcoming. They sell their products at an on-location store, which includes their own super premium maple ice cream (which is world class) with their own 100% pure maple syrup. They have numerous grades of syrup, all made on the premises, as well as jam, salsa, home-made maple granola and other specialties. Their latest addition is nothing shy of amazing. They have become America's First and ONLY maple winery, with nine 2015 vintages available. It doesn't get any better than this. The Peterson's do it all themselves, and it is a family labor of love. It's wonderful that they have settled in Petoskey, so we can all fall in love with Maple Moon. Tour the sugary and sample delectable treats such as maple syrup, maple candy, maple ice cream, maple root beer and maple wine.

We saw them at a farmer’s market and decided to stop by their property. They have a nice tour to explain the maple syrup making process. The maple syrup is very good. They also make maple wine. It sounds odd but is very good. We left with a case and of course some maple syrup. Make this a stop on your list and you will not be disappointed.

Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery

Enjoy the afternoon relaxing with a glass of wine on our 60 foot covered patio overlooking 22 acres of beautiful hills and rolling countryside. Take home a unique gift for that special friend. Wine tasting daily Monday - Saturday. A Labor of Love From Our Family To Yours, Petoskey Farms Vineyard & Winery

Reviewed By TennisgalGreenBay_WI - Green Bay, WI

Walked in to this winery on a June sunny day, and Tracy, one of the owners greeted us. This is an unassuming place with a whopper of a view. So, after Tracy explained her wine to us and a little about her vineyard, we ordered a flight with a plate of sausage and cheese and sat outside on the patio. What a view! And the wines were pretty good for Michigan. What made it nice was being able to sit on the patio in the sun, take in the countryside while sipping wines. We ended up buying two bottles, Petoskey White and Daily Bread Red.
They also have whitefish spread which sounded pretty good.
Great people and nice wine!
