Ajo is a small town, and admittedly, we were just passing through. But it was lunch time so we asked at the Visitor Centre for restaurant advice. We had three choices, so not so overwhelming. But ignoring that, the host at the Visitor's Centre was very keen to help. So much so, that over lunch, we decided we had to go back and talk to this guy again. He was most helpful and was doing a fine job of highlighting Ajo's merits. The Visitor Centre had lots of local info and, of course, desert appropriate gifts.

We are an independent bookstore located in an old mining town near the Mexican border. We are the closest bookstore to Rocky Point. We carry used and new books, basic office supplies, our own line of Ajo postcards, t-shirts, magazines, art and gifts.

An oasis in the dry part of the Sonoran Desert that is a promising spot for viewing plants, birds and animals.
So much history here. Took a ranger led talk/hike of the area. Pup fish, mud turtles, cattle history, native american history. Lots to enjoy.

Public 9-hole golf course, with an abundance of wildlife.
We just happened upon this Jewel in the desert ????....we came to hang out & boondock for a few days. We’ve left and come back & we love it here! Great Golf course where we’re learning to golf, wonderful little restaurant that we help out in occasionally, & terrific people who almost all volunteer to keep this place going. I would highly recommend going out to experience it all.... GOLF, RESTAURANT & BAR, & GOOD PEOPLE. AGC!!!????
