The visit of the Rundale Palace was the highlight of my first visit to Latvia. I did not went with a private tour; I went using public transportation using information posted at TA. I am very glad I did because this allowed me to explore the sight at my own pace. Furthermore, none of the tour-guided people visited the exhibition "From Gothic Style to Art Nouveau" probably because it was not included in the ticket bought by the tour operator. There is a discount in the combined ticket if you buy it online (day ticket) For me Rundale palace is one of the most stunning palaces I have visited. They did an extraordinary job in restoring the splendor of the palace. Each room is opulent profusely decorated with beautiful objects and furniture. Once you finished with the second floor go to the basement and visit the special exhibition. It felt like I was in the TEFAF (The European Fine Art Faire), I was alone surrounded by an extraordinary exquisite collection of objects that went from Gothic style to Art Nouveau. It took me more than one hour as I perused the porcelain, the furniture and the ornaments. You do not want to miss that. The gardens were beautiful but not extraordinary as the grass was dry and it seems that they need some maintenance. I ate extremely well at the cafeteria; the soup of the day was really yummy and they served a large portion, the main was chicken which was good and the dessert was excellent. Service was a little bit slow, but very friendly, something that you have to appreciate when you are in Latvia. If you decide to go by your own; I recommend to take an early bus. You can buy it online. The palace opens at 10h00, so you can avoid some of the hectic tours that become more present during the day. You need to go to Bauska, and there you need to catch another bus to Rundale. Beware that there are very few buses between Bauska and Rundale, so never take the last one. The down side of going without tour-guide is that you miss all the context; you need to do some research on your own as the leaflets do not dwell into the historical context of the palace. The visit to the palace could take you the whole day (as if you were in Versailles).

We really enjoyed it! It costs 12 eur for 10 rides (or 1,5 eur if you buy a single ticket). We went for 20 rides and our little daughther was estatic! They also have helmets you can borrow free of charge! They also have buggy track, which we didn't visit since our daughter is only 3 years old and we decided she would be too small for that. But it's an option. They also have a cafe, which a lot of people seemed to enjoy and you can but an ice cream or just water there as well. Only down side is the road - it's bad and super narrow to get there, so drive carefully!

Great place for family with children! This time we only took the small part with the enchanted fairy tale forest with the tiny dwarf homes and the lookout tower. But we have been here several times. There are however, little to none information in english. We got a small map at the cash desk and no actual information about the park. The PR and information lever of the park could be better. Home page was also lacking some general information. Fx we would have liked to view a map before we arrived, so we could plan our trip. However, the park was good, cheap and we can highly recommend to rent one of those carts where you can have bags (and/or) kids. It costs 3,50 for the first hour and then 1,50 euros for each next hour. It was money well spent and the cart was easy to drag. There is also a small train that you can use to travel from one spot to another. We ended up not using it, despite we had one elderly person with us that normally would be having hard time walking these distances. But from one of the employees at the park we got information that from the spots where the train stops it's possible to call the train so that it would come and pick your group up. The level of information both at the premises and home page needs to improve. Park itself is fine and great fun for kids!

We bad the best time @Jaunmoku pils, once we arrived our room was set up for romantic getaway with a nice cheese and fruit platter, bottle of bubbly and rose bouquet. Staff was very friendly, chatty and made us feel very welcome. We started with a nice walk around the manor and it’s gardens, once arrived at the bar we discovered they have homemade ice cream that we could not resist but try, we had strawberry and mint ice cream it was lovely and full of flavor. Then on the top floor there is a nice museum about forest and animals, for me it was better then the museums in the Capital Rīga. Then we had this amazing dinner table set only for us at the veranda where we had 6 course dinner, all was fresh and tasty. After dinner we went for another small walk and went up the tower. Room was very comfortable and cosy, love the deco and furniture. In the morning we had breakfast outside in the garden, we could choose from the menu cooked breakfast and again if was fresh and lovely. Staff again was super friendly and suggested us more things to do :)

Modern looking fun to cross bridge with a great view. Best time to do it is in the evening, when everything around it is lit up ( small waterfalls along the banks of river with colourful lights)
