British Columbia's Sunshine Coast does seem to get more than its fair share of great weather, plus breathtaking scenery and friendly coastal villages to discover. The beaches are best in summer, but the natural beauty is year-round. Travelers rave about swimming while gazing up at the mountains, or just relaxing in a romantic B&B while the setting sun paints a canvas of color over the water.

Spent a week sailing from Nanaimo to the end of Princess Louisa Inlet and the beautiful Chatterbox Falls and back to Nanaimo. This is a wonderful trip through some of the most beautiful waters on the East side of Vancouver Island. From Nanaimo you sale to the east side of Texada Island, to Jarvis Inlet, to Princess Louisa Inlet to be rewarded by the spectacular Chatterbox Falls. The traces of water from the highest peaks all cascading and joining to form Chatterbox Falls and tumble mightily into the ocean inlet. This trip is beautiful and rewarding at every turn. This destination can only be made by water. We sailed and the rythym of the water and the pace of the journey was it's own reward.

We have our own kayaks and spent a few hours doing a 20 km paddle around almost all of the Copelands, launching from Lund. A diverse set of islands with interesting geology, sea life big (seals, porpoises and whales if you are lucky) and small. An absolutely brilliant way to spend a day or bring a tent and camp on one of the island sites. If you are bringing your own boats, beware of the Lund Parking Lots and their dishonest attendant. We understand that they need to make revenue, but lying about where one can put in one's kayak is not cool.

The Nicholas Sonntag Marine Education Centre (NSMEC) is a unique collect and release aquarium located inside Gibsons Public Market in the seaside town of Gibsons, BC. The Sonntag Centre houses 30 exhibits displaying natural habitat and local marine fish and invertebrates from the waters of the Howe Sound. This includes interactive touch tanks and scavenger hunts! The animals are collected by our team of professional SCUBA divers. The animals are then housed in the Centre for 6-18 months, depending on the species, and released back to the ocean with help from the entire community. Displays are always changing, allowing the diversity of the marine life we have in the Howe Sound to shine. We host formal education programs with schools, run summer camps and bring in experts to deliver engaging presentations on ocean topics. Come visit us soon!
