This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is located in a small village (Keladi) near Shimoga. From outside the temple looks very ordinary but all beauty of this place is after you enter through the main gate. You will realise that the pillars are made of wood. Inside is an ancient 1400 old structure with Shiva Linga. Alongside the Shiva temple is a Parvati temple with very beautiful roof carvings made of sandal wood. The temple priest explained to us the history of the temple in brief and said that the Linga was put there by Lord Rama himself.

We stayed at the government jungle resort lodges bang opposite the sharavati river water front. The price is a bit steep but the facilities are excellent and the staff very helpful. There's absolute peace here, no mobile networks most of the time. There's an all pervading calmness. Apart from boating there are a few other water sports like kayaking speed boat swmimg etc. bird watching in the morning is very rewarding. The morning walk leads to a series of new islands. In one shallow island you can go walking deep inside coming out thoroughly refreshed. Sit in the water for a real fish spa. Schools of fish play around your feet and hands. A totally different experience for city dwellers. In the evening you can visit the world famous jog falls. A real relaxing holiday for a few days. The food served at the lodge is top drawer stuff. If you have the wherewithal go for it. Around Rs. 3800 per person per day.

A must visit attraction near Thirthahalli. A ruined Fort with a lot of artifacts still standing in good shape! A tiring yet fantastic trek up to the peak. Ideal to do it early in the morning. Later in the sunny day it can get really exhausting. There are no amenities, food and drink options at all nearby. So need to carry packed stuff.
