This was an amazing and thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. On arrival my wife and I were welcomed and offered tea or coffee by the owners, Alan and Stuart. Alan was to be my instructor, and started by finding out if I knew anything about flying (a little, gleaned from Flight Sim on my home PC) and what I wanted to gain from the session in the simulator, which was some basic tuition on how to make a start with flying commercial jets, knowledge to take away and practice at home. Once inside the simulator (which is full-motion, not fixed base, so you feel every movement) you become fully immersed in the feeling of being inside an aircraft, and you soon forget that you are in a simulator. After running through the various procedures of starting an aircraft from cold (the option I chose) Alan took me through the pre-flight checks and procedures, explaining various things as we did so, and very soon we were ready for the first of two short flights to experience push-back, taxi, takeoff, cruising and landing, and then we practised various scenarios such as landing in different weathers and some emergency procedures. Alan put me completely at ease throughout, and his experience as a former commercial pilot came over very clearly with the ease at which he was able to answer all of my many and varied questions. We thoroughly enjoyed this 2-hour experience (my wife sat in one of two guest seats to watch what was happening), and I came away with an improved understanding of what it takes to fly a commercial airliner. I wholeheartedly recommend Simulator Adventures to anyone who is looking for a thoroughly immersive flight simulation experience, and I will most certainly be booking a return visit.

First of all, I have been to a lot of venues and theatres and this is one of my favourite in the country. Let me tell you why... The Lowry is run by a large group of volunteers who give countless hours to support the venue, that makes a difference - they want to be there and the customer experience shows. The theatre is a registered charity with an aim to bring the best performances to a wide group of people, some of whom would not normally experience theatre. The Lowry is split into the Lyric Theatre (large touring production space), the Quays Theatre (much smaller intimate theatre space), Lowry exhibition, restaurant, bars, coffee shop and gallery space. The Lyric theatre is a large 3 tier space, with some of the most accessible and comfortable spaces in any theatres in the UK I have ever been in. As the theatre was custom designed for sound, the sound performance is always crystal clear and a joy for any type of performance. This is the largest theatre outside of London and holds up to 1,730 seats in a tiered curve so there is space for everyone to see - much better than the Palace or Opera House for viewing space and comfort. The Quays is a smaller, four tier with smaller, stool spaces in the tiers around the sides of the smaller stage and is great for smaller plays, intimate talks and new material and can hold up to 440 people. The venue is extremely accessible with sloped walkways, lifts and clear descriptions everywhere. This is probably one of the best theatre spaces in the UK and holds such a diverse range of musical theatre, concerts, dance, drama, new plays and shows and has a yearly behind the scenes day which if you get a chance, you absolutely must, it's amazing!

Salford Museum & Art Gallery

Salford Museum and Art Gallery was the UK’s ‘first free public library’, which opened in January 1850, followed in November by a museum and art gallery. The building was a mansion house known as Lark Hill, which had been built in the 1790s and has given its name to our famous Lark Hill Place; a Victorian street within the museum. Today, Salford Museum and Art Gallery presents an exciting programme of permanent displays and changing contemporary exhibitions together with a range of events and activities guaranteed to inspire which completes a must visit experience for individuals, families, schools and organisations to come and enjoy. When you have visited the galleries why not pop into our cafe or purchase a souvenir in the museum shop. Our learning and outreach programme allows everyone to get involved with the museum - perhaps taking part in a Victorian washday, learning new crafts or reminiscing with our memory boxes. We offer free admission and welcome all children accompanied by a responsible adult.

Myself and family went to watch the planes with our grandchildren and decided to have a meal while we were there. We had a Sunday dinner and OMG, the amount we got was fabulous and very worth the money we paid. The drinks are very reasonable to. In the school summer holidays they have a Summer Beach month with real sand, a fairground, ice creams, fast food - we were lucky to get a very sunny day and it was amazing!
