We weren't planning to visit here in the first place, however after hearing recommendation from the locals, we decided to go take the chance and go there. It's a 3 hour drive from Padang, and once you get there, you need to rent a boat to explace the area. I suggest that you take the cheapest one which cost IDR 650,000 or roughly USD 50 to explorer 4-5 places. The water and beaches are clean, and the scenery was beautiful. Definately a go to place when you're in West Sumatra

Where else you can get to a waterfall without much walking or hiking? The waterfall looks great, with cool and clear water under it. The entrance fee was Rp.5K/person. A nice place to stop for a while and stretch your leg between Padang and Bukittinggi.

Interesting place it has a good collection of weapons on the second floor of the main building. The labels there are in bahasa indonesia. The first floor accessible thru the second floor right hall stairwells shows the fabrics an traditional dresses and cooking utensils and molds they used to use. The labels there are in bahasa and english. What surpised me where the cake molds and gold and silver belts that were once used in the region. The area below also contains some of Java man remains, preserved animal remains as well. The second building at the back of the museum contains the architecture area that contains miniture model of houses and halls in West Sumatera and the childrens technology exhibits which did attract most of the students that where there during my visit. The trip was worth it for a price of 3000 IDR was worth the fiat money to see the area. The complex has a canteen and prayer room for muslims.
