A Beautiful Belgian Chocolate Shop & Tea Room !!! Packed with everything in Belgian Chocolate , manufactured on site from high quality Belgian Chocolate from what I believe used to be a Victorian Butchers Shop. I believe a lot of the original Butchers Tiling has been retained and this shop is an absolute credit to the lovely lady owners. I came in with my teenage son last October as we were staying at a large hotel in Grange Over Sands for a week , on holiday- We ended up visiting Choco-Lori on 4 of the days for dairy ice cream, quite a bit of delicious Belgian Chocolates and more dairy ice cream !! Very friendly and helpful girls work here - an absolute gem of a place if you like chocolate and it really is just a Beautiful Shop!

Holker Hall is the home of the Cavendish Family who welcome visitors of all ages to one of the best-loved stately homes in Britain. Magnificently situated only a short distance from Grange-over-Sands and the expanse of Morecambe Bay and is set in exceptionally beautiful countryside with gardens that merge into Parkland, framed by the Lakeland Hills.
Was extremely lucky with the weather, as we walked around the large deer park and then stopped off for a light lunch in the courtyard cafe. Nothing can be faulted, warm professional welcome, sign posted one way system to manage the old Covid, very friendly staff encountered at every point. Tasty food well presented and reasonably priced. The doggy station of free treats and water is the best set up I’ve seen in a long time. All in the shadow of the imposing Victorian wing, which all being well shall be reopened soon as restrictions are lifted. I used to live close by as a youngster and it’s reassuring to see that the area has not lost any of its charm.

Racing has been taking place at Cartmel since 1856. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful English Lake District, Cartmel Races rekindles the spirit of the original steeplechases, attracting large crowds who gather within the centre of the racecourse for picnics, parties and a flutter on the horses. The two public enclosures offer a great variety of viewing and hospitality options, from relaxed picnics to fine dining. During race meetings, racegoers can browse the shopping and food outlets, and enjoy fairground entertainment. A great place for family and friends to gather, the events are both social and informal in nature. The surfaces are predominately grass parkland - high heels are not ideal! Outside of the racing calendar, the iconic Cartmel Racecourse becomes a splendid venue for a range of corporate and social events and functions. As a licensed wedding venue, Cartmel Racecourse also provides a truly unique setting for a wedding celebration. Cartmel Racecourse is easily accessible, located just 20 minutes from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway.
Came here for the May Bank Holiday Meetings and was amazed. We have been to quite a few racecourses but this was a real experience, never been to one like this one. it was fabulous, a real party atmosphere with fun fair and bbq's and everyone is allowed to take there own food and drink and have a picnic if they wish. You can't see a lot of the course when the horses are racing but it is still great fun and very entertaining. We were very lucky and got fabulous weather but unfortunately if you don't get the weather then this lovely little course would be a wash out. We really loved it so we are going back next year.

On the last Sunday of each month from April to September - 10am to 4pm, Prom Art is a large monthly art and craft fair with up to 80 stalls displaying quality art and craft items. Please note that the promenade is a pedestrian area. If visiting by car, park up and head for the sea front. Please check Prom Art web site / social media sites in case weather has caused cancellation.
Prom Art at Grange-over-Sands held the first event of this year on 26th July. I have been attending regularly for several years. It was great to see so many sellers and a good amount of visitors. There is so many things to see and buy, jewellery, photography, paintings, glass art, wool goods, shabby chic housey goods, woodwork, metalwork etc. etc. This is a must if you are in or around Grange-over-Sands on the last Sunday of the month between April and September. The views over the bay are spectacular. There is two very good cafes on the Prom, both with take out facilities. Access to public toilets that take contactless card payments.

A fascinating insight to the buildings of Lakeland's yesteryear. Buildings made from local Coniston slate. Houses, farms and barns create the Lakeland landscape. These miniature buildings depict Cumbrian houses and farms including classics such as Hill Top ,the home of Beatrix Potter, the Bridge House at Ambleside. Also a slate bridge 50 feet long. All the buildings are lovingly hand crafted by Edward Robinson. No machinery is used at all -only hand tools. Also the Oriental Building, which is a display area over looks the Oriental Garden. There are water features throughout the miniature village. The model village has been growing over the last 24 years, but it will be a few years before it is completed. Visiting Times.1st March- 31st October.
We decided to visit this to fill in some time on our holiday was lovely to be greeted so warmly from the owner and we were given a quiz to do which the kids enjoyed and helped get them reading the signs really looks like a lot of time was spent crwating this great experience and the cost was very reasonable.
