This museum was once the home of a Civil War-era surgeon.
My first visit to the Meux Home was in 1964 when I was working and needed to speak with the residents. I was greeted by one of the original Meux Family Members and when I remarked on the beauty of her house, was given a private tour. I thanked Mrs Meux for her kindness. Following her passing, the city of Fresno in their obscene disire to tear down the old and build new, were pursuaded in keeping this home as an Historic Landmark which I cheered. The house fell into disrepair for several years and thanks again to a group who wanted to keep the Meux Home as an Historical part of Fresno, rehabilitated the house to it's original condition, they tried to get back most of the original furniture and did an excellant job of restoration. The house is open for tours and is at look at Frenso of the turn of the century. Great place to visit in Fresno as the shame Fresno has to bear is the destruction of the past with only a few reminders of how beautiful the city once was.

I know. Area surrounding is not the best but the park is such a gem. Very clean and friendly helpful staff. Could sit for hours and watch the elephants. We all loved feeding the giraffes. Snacks are not cheap however pretzel and cheese dip was a hit. And after a lot more walking had lunch outside of the "safari". Must must must have the garlic fries. I kid you not. Looking forward to the Christmas lights.

Take a tour off Highway 99 and visit Fresno's best kept secret. *A hand-built network of underground rooms, courtyards and passageways reminiscent of the ancient catacombs. *Unique fruit producing trees, shrubs, and vines growing underground - some over 90 years old! *Ancient Roman architecture - arches, vaults and stone-built walls. *Underground micro-climates - temperature variations of 10 to 30 degrees! *Underground home of Sicilian visionary and self-taught artist/builder Baldassare Forestiere.
You Must see this place, and take the tour of Forestiere Gardens. Absolutely spectacular, intriguing and amazing. A real piece of history that will make you appreciate and understand the gardens. The guided tour is more than well worth it, as they explain the story behind the building of the gardens. There is no other place like this, truly a one of a kind and very very unique experience. Overall Rating ~ Excellent

The Shinzen Friendship Garden is a traditional northwestern American Japanese Garden. The Garden was constructed to honor Fresno’s Sister City, Kochi, Japan, celebrating the spirit of understanding and promoting educational and cultural awareness. The beauty, grace and serenity of Japanese design is present in the use of varied plant material, rocks and stones, and water throughout the five acre garden. The garden is designed around the four seasons of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter; granite markers identify each section. In the Fall of 2015 we were proud to be chosen to house and display the world-class Clark Bonsai Collection, which is now on permanent display in the garden, offering a seasonal rotation of some of the finest Bonsai in the United States.
I spent about 2 hours with my sister viewing and photographing rare Japanese Trees and bonsais as well as their unique position by the beautiful cove in North Woodward Regional Park.

I really like to come here and see what's the harvest of the day. There were peaches, plums, pluots and several types of raisins that one could sample before buying. I bought the golden raisins on sale and they are so good and very large. I've used them in salad, oatmeal, and as a snack all by themselves. The staff is friendly, helpful and make shopping delightful.
