New (2017) museum about Father Damien. A contemporary and interactive experience centre, build in and around his birthplace, where you can follow in Father Damien's footsteps. The museum guides you through different periods in the life of the Greatest Belgian ever and demonstrates that Father Damien is still a source of inspiration today.

How to get there: Take Volmolenlaan in the direction of the Ring road (Tervuursevest). You will find a tunnel for pedestrians and cyclists, where the road crosses the river Dyle. This is an amazing park for everyone. Two lakes, many playgrounds, pool, has lovely areas to sit and relax and just walk. Is only some stops away by bus from the Central Station and is worth spending the day there. In winter is recommended to take your own food as the food stalls are closed.

Gaasbeek Castle is currently closed until 2023 for a large restoration campagn. Gaasbeek Castle is a unique historic house with an extensive collection that has grown organically with it. We are the permanent custodians of this piece of heritage. We present this house and its collection in a bold way as a heritage laboratory and inspiring place to meet. The castle is a ‘work in progress’: we develop systematic innovative initiatives which we share with the local heritage community and beyond. In so doing we put our visitors first: we excite, move and invite them to reflect. We work on an interdisciplinary basis and reach a collective vision of how to enhance art, heritage, nature, education and tourism. All this with attention to quality and maximum social relevance.
Amazing well appointed historic castle with artwork statues and tapestries on display. Recent artwork interpretations are scattered throughout. Original furniture completes each rooms decor. Allow an hour to visit more if touring gardens
