One of the most beautiful temples that still holds its spectacular charm after 1000 years. The temple is peaceful and serene. It is not possible to move your eyes away from the statue of Venugopalaswamy. All the moorthys are made of shaligrama and shows the expertise of the then sculptors that they look as good as new even today. The carvings outside the temple are a sight to behold too. Definitely worth the visit.

This place is about 29km from Chikmagalur,It is a small, sleepy village. The Veeranarayana temple. the temple is beautiful, the single rock cut pillars are so skillfully made that they continue to amaze you.The artisans who created such beautiful temples must have been exeptionally talented and very skillful. Must go and visit these temples which are lesser known than Belur and Halebeedu temples, and take pride in our rich heritage.

This is one of the highest peak of Karnataka, trekking to this peak during monsoon is excellent with little bit drizzle and mist on the peak, gives wonderful feel of nature. At the peak there is small Shiva temple. Overall, I had great time with my friends at the peak.

Pristine glory, thanks to the restrictions associated with a tiger reserve. Clean and green surroundings, no garbage. The ride on the jeep (only few recognised jeeps allowed) was quite an experience as the road is not surfaced. (purposely I think to avoid too many visitors) Not for weak at heart, mind or body. I am still nursing a bad neck as I rode in the rear of the jeep. This is one place which has remained unchanged even after 45 years. Highly recommend spending at least an hour (if the jeep driver obliges) sitting under the water. It was heavenly!

Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri.is the first and foremost of the four Peethams established by the renowned 8th century philosopher saint Sri Adi Shankara, The temple is located amongst the lush green mountain ranges of the Sahyadri. Sringeri Mutt – Mythology Sringeri derived its name from the ancient Shringa Giri, the name of a hill here that is believed to have housed the ashram of Sri Vibhandaka Maharishi and his son Sri Rishyashringa. Tradition has it that when Sri Shankaracharya was passing through here, he was captivated by an unusual sight. A cobra had reared up and spread its hood to shelter a spawning frog from the scorching sun. Sri Shankara was enchanted by the divinity of the place which made natural enemies help each other. Saraswathi Devi, who was accompanying Sri Shankaracharya and his disciples in the form of a young girl called Bharathi, stayed on in the spot as Sharada Devi. Sri Shankaracharya established a matha here and it came to be known as Sri Sharada Peetham, the seat of Sharada Devi. There is another important place which you should not miss in Shringeri. Do not miss out on visiting the banks of Tunga River. Since, this river basin is considered as sacred, fishing is not allowed in the river at the shrine. Watching the fishes in Tunga River at Sringeri is a enjoyable. Visitors can also feed these fishes and watch them jumping to catch the food.

The temple is 1200 years old with Sri Rama as the main deity. The unique aspect of the temple is the arrangement of the main statues. It is customary for Sri Rama temples to have Sri Rama's statue in the middle, Sri Lakhmana on His right and Sita Devi on His left (as after marriage She is His Vamangini). Also a small statue of Sri Hanumana (or Sri Anjaneya) is invariably found kneeling on one knee at their feet with folded hands. In this temple, Sita Devi is on Sri Rama's right and Sri Lakshmana is on His left. The legend goes that Sri Parshurama had not attended Sri Rama's wedding to Sita Devi and had later prayed to Sri Rama to show His "Muhurtam" facet i.e. how He appeared at His wedding muhurtam. As at the wedding, Sita Devi would be on Sri Rama's right (not yet being wedded until the end of the rituals), here at the temple the statues are arranged accordingly (with Sita Devi on Sri Rama's right). Also because Sri Hanuamana was not present at the wedding (he enters the story much later), His statue also does not appear at Sri Rama's feet in this temple. Outside the temple is a statue of Sri Parsurama pleading to Sri Rama with folded hands to show His "Muhurtam" roopa. So why is this temple located so far from the place of Sri Rama's wedding (Mithila) and His kingdom (Ayodhya)? As explained by the temple Pandit Ji, the reason is that Sri Parshurama is said to have dwelt in this village for some time of His life. Usually not crowded except for some festivals. Aarti timings 0930 and 1930. The main Pandit Ji, Shri Vaishnav, is a treasure house of knowledge and is a PhD in Sanskrit Vyakaran, after having done his initial education in a Gurukula. An amazing person to talk to and to listen to.
