Stelvio Pass

What a fabulous place to go. Named as the 7th or 8th toughest mountain climb on a road bike in Europe it’s worthy of its special position. We did it in snow and it made for an amazing adventure. Probably not very clever though on the way down. Watch out it gets incredibly cold on your hands and arms going down hill at speed. And yes we had every kind of top and under garment on! It’s just a killer! Watch out for black ice and be careful with the mountain tunnels! The views are fab but we missed it all due to snow and mist. But we enjoyed it still the same. An amazing adventure you’ll never forget. Enjoy!!

I have always been a skier and decided that this trip should be different, and since the trip went to Livigno I sought out Madness Snowboard School...and I loved it!!! Marco, my instructor pushed me to be better than I even thought possible and even though I am not a daredevil, within a week I had seen a whole lot more than just the beginners piste. So if you wanna try out snowboarding, I can only recommend Madness Snowboard School and of course Marco.

Palazzo Vertemate Franchi

The palace is a very beautiful masterpiece of the Renaissance immersed in a charming environment, which provides real life story of a sixteenth-seventeenth-century aristocratic family. The front is simple and essential, surrounded by light and functional spaces as well as the Italian garden with the fishpond and the double exedra-shaped banister.Besides there is the orchard, the vineyard, the chestnut wood and a succession of country and simple buildings for the running of the farms.

We went on a beautiful sunny day. You can walk up to 7 hours or smaller walks. Very easy hiking but do wear proper hiking shoes. As there is uneven ground, cobbles, & quite loose footings on the bridges. We parked at san martino a small village where there is plenty of long or short spaces on offer. From here you start the hike all well sign posted. We had lunch at the rifugio luna nascente, i recommend this one from experience. Or take your own picnic therecare plenty of places to stop. I would allow at least 3 to 4 hours to do the medium hike.

Rock Engraving Park of Grosio

Guided tours at 10.30, 14.00 and 16.00! The Rock Engraving Park is a unique combination of the archaeological, architectural, historical and even landscape patrimony of various ages of the Valtellina. The Park was founded in 1978 to conserve, study and develop the Cultural Heritage on the Castle Hill (Dosso dei Castelli). Next to the two castles, the Castello Vecchio (Old Castle) from the 10th-11th century and the Castello Nuovo (New Castle) from the 14th century, even a system of dry-stone terraces, how it is typically for the Valtellina, is surrounding the Castle Hill. But special and singular is the Rupe Magna, a large rock which contains more than 5.000 engraved figures from the 4th to the 1st millennium B.C.

Azienda Agricola Alberto Marsetti

Valtellina is one of the most northerly wine-growing areas of Italy. The vines are grown on the mountain slopes facing south, giving protection and insulation whilst they mature. The first to cultivate vines in Valtellina came from Liguria, (where cultivation is also on narrow terraces), then the Etruscans and Romans. "Heroic wine-growing", we can call like this 'cause here the territory is precipitous and everything is handmade! Alberto Marsetti is a official spokesman about the Heroic wine-growing from 1986. In fact, Alberto form that year, carriers on the work of his grandfather Angelo. We product 500 hl of wine. The most come from the Nebbiolo variety (called Chiavennasca) and from local variety "Brugnola", "Pignola" and "Rossola". In the historic center of Sondrio, the wine's mature in barrels and old wooden vats. Just here, originated the two V.S. docg GRUMELLO and LE PRUDENZE, but also ROSSO DI VALTELLINA doc, SFURSAT DELLA VALTELLINA docg and the last born A.R. IMPERFETTO igt

We visited the spectacularly underrated town of Sondrio and its surrounding vineyards in mid October, on the same day the vendemmia started (the harvest of the wine grapes). Afterwards we went for wine tasting at Alberto Marsetti's winery.Their 2019 vino ready to hit the shelves after a 3 year ripening period is fabulously fresh and "spiccato", their Sfursato,Prudence are delicious, yet l loved the ImPerfetto- from 100%Nebbiolo grapes, the Imperfetto playfully says " l'm perfect" and l do agree.

this is my favourite side of the valley for skiing, some harder runs this side and a better choice of mountain restaurants, always a pleasure to ski here and just a 4 minute bus ride away.
