Located in remote Purnululu National Park, these eerie beehive-shaped sandstone domes are striped in orange and black and rise from the floor of Piccaninny Gorge.
Each of the walks were wonderful giving a different view of the area. Domes walk and Cathedral Gorge were easy walks. Enjoyed the Piccaninny Creek to the Lookout and Window over the smooth rock bed, some sand and rounded river rocks. Then in the north of the park, we enjoyed walking into Echidna Chasm to see the amazing colours of the rocks after 11 am. (Keep going past the round open area with a couple of benches as the chasm is further on from this, although the colours of the rocks here were also amazing. Mini Palms was also well worth it. Don't be put off by having to get through, under, around the huge boulders near the entrance, it is certainly worth it.

Our fleet of purpose built vessels offer comfortable seating and unobstructed views that leave many customers exclaiming words such as “amazing”, “breathtaking”, and “unbelievable”. Latest research estimates up to 25,000 Johnstone River Fresh Water crocodiles inhabit Lake Argyle, Rock Wallabies thrive in rocky crevices close to the water’s edge, Eros (Wallaroos) on the islands have adapted to feed on the lakes aquatic plants. We specialise in observing wildlife, but due to the nature of wild animals it cannot be guaranteed you will see all that is described in this brochure. At Lake Argyle village above the Main Dam you will find motel style cabins, shop, bar, restaurant and a caravan park. Drop in and try the local catch, “Silver Cobbler” delivered fresh daily. Nearby is the Historical Durack Family Homestead Museum. The inland sea was created in 1971, by damming the mighty Ord River, forming a storage reservoir to supply one of the country’s largest and most ambitious irrigation schemes. What was once “Argyle Downs”, a million acre cattle station, is now an immense body of water amid a largely untamed and rugged wilderness in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia. Aptly named “Lake Argyle”, this majestic waterway can at times encompass and area of more than 2000 km2, a volume of water equivalent to 54 Sydney harbours. With its ever changing moods and landscapes it has developed into a unique eco-system, home to an amazing array of wildlife. There is no better was to capture all of this outstanding beauty than to take a cruise with Lake Argyle Cruises. We offer a selection of tours catering for the individual traveller as well as large tour groups. The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow, closely aligned gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay. The direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach 10 metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge. Travelling by land, air and sea - Horizontal Falls offers full and half day tours to experience this natural phenomenon.

Located deep within Talbot Bay in the Buccaneer Archipelago are the Horizontal Waterfalls. Massive tidal movements create a waterfall effect as water banks up against one side of the narrow cliff passage, to be repeated again on the turning tide. The twin gaps are part of the McLarty Ranges, which have two ridges running parallel approximately 300 metres apart. The first and most seaward gap is about 20 metres wide and the second, most spectacular, gap is about 10 metres wide. The falls can only be reached by boat or plane
My husband and I recently flew with FLY BROOME to experience the Horizontal Falls we flew over the King Sound over the falls and the Buccaneer Archipelago to Cape Leveque for lunch and a Swim the down to coast back to Broome, the tour company are amazing, from the wonderfully friendly and informative Sadie who picked us up in the bus from our Hotel to the amazing Pilot Eugene who is so passionate about the region and ready with millions of facts about the area. If you get a chance to do this I highly recommend it and recommend Fly Broome.
